Mercedes SAP BT Cradle

That's with phone contacts. SIM contacts can't store several numbers with one name. What phone do you have? Not all phones support this.

Well I'm just about bushed, Monday is a 4 am start for me hacking my way down to Leatherhead or is that Leatherdead for the week! Phone is an el cheapo Nokia 2630 which I bought knowing SAP is not supported by Sony Ericsson which was my current phone. To explain further I bought the el-cheapo (SAP compliant) Nokia to tied me over to the end of September when my current contract is up and I can upgrade to well...just what ever I want / need.

Thanks to all on this forum for the help I have received, I really need good telecoms in my motor, I spend so much time traveling about (enjoying the MB experience) sadly.

I went for what |I thought to be the best solution but have, shall we say, had a few teething probs so I guess I'm going to need a bit more support from the gurus on here!!:D

PS I need a comand fitting at an affordable cost, any advice / suggestions is more than welcome!!

These are the guys for COAMND retro-fits, very highly recommended :thumb:

The numbers are stored on the phone as general, mobile, home and office, I'm not sure where to go from here with this one, stumped.:wallbash:

Did you do the "0000" dial on the Audio20 ?

Not sure about that, the SAP manual does specifically mention Home, Work and Mobile. I find if I store them as anything else (my N78 has Home Mobile and Work Mobile for instance) they don't show up.

Do you have a friend with a Nokia N95 or N78 that you could try for comparison?

Edit: Just checked my Nokia N78 and "Work" is shown as "Business".

When you say if you store "any" number as anything other than home, work, mobile then only the default number shows up for "all" contacts or only numbers in matching sub groups show up? For example, home and mobile show up and business don't because they should be called work to fit in with the way MB SAP has been implemented.

I can't find an option to change the name of these sub groups on a Nokia 6230, do you now if this is fixed in all Nokias or which models fit the criteria i.e. Home, Work, Mobile?

Oh boy all this to get my phone to play nicely with MB SAP:wallbash:

Business shows up as /W on the BT SAP. Home and Mobile show as /H and /M. Carphone, (Home) Mobile and (Work) Mobile don't show.

I would try deleting all contacts stored on the SIM as, depending on the phone, BT SAP reserves memory space for SIM contacts first, which may mean numbers stored in the phone memory have no space left in BT SAP for them.

Thanks for you suggestion, I need to sort this out but I don't have any contacts stored on my SIM. I have tried the 0000 thing again and no joy. I may try copying all my contacts onto the SIM and pair the phone again but I'm hesitant to do that because I may not be able to get it to pair again. I really don't believe this lot, maybe I should just forget it and get a Parrot installed which works a treat in my Mrs C class.:wallbash::wallbash: then again I'm made of sterner stuff and do like to resolve issues or shall we say challenges:D

Hopefully (still searching for the best deal) I will be replacing the audio 20 head for a COMAND APS head in the near future and my understanding is that COMAND is far more user friendly when it comes to playing happily with MB SAP.

Network

Which network provider are you with?

I could not access the phonebook (N73 or SIM in BT adaptor) with Virgin Mobile.

I tried other network sims with N73 and I could access phones phonebook. Also tried copying all contacts onto Virgin Mobile sim and inserting into the adpator, still couldn't access phonebook. Never got to the bottom of this, not a problem now as I'm with O2.

One other thought, do you have the latest version of the software on the Nokia? This is often a stumbling block when using SAP. It is worth persevering with BT SAP as it does provide superior signal strength by virtue of using the car's aerial, something I appreciate and the reason I switched from using a Viseeo BT device.

Don't mean to dampen your enthusiasm but I think the issue is how the phone "talks" to the SAP puck, not how the SAP "talks" to the Audio20 / COMAND. That said pairing will be easier when using COMAND.

You really need to try a different phone My E71, E65 and N95 all worked very well with the SAP puck.

I'm getting comand fitted tomorrow, I'll take things from there, hopefully my contact issue will be resolved.:bannana:

Test his mettle by getting him to pair your phone and download you contacts... :)
