Mercedes W114 250 Coupe - help!

And the propeller shaft? Or even the front 1/2 of same as it will be shorter for an auto.

I guess if you are using halves of two different props hafts , they will need to be balanced as a unit ...

Any other things I need for the auto? Poor man has been bombarded with emails today!

Gearbox Xmember might be different. nb...might.

Torque Converter/FF thingy and what ever it mounts to on the crankshaft, usually a flexy drive plate with the starter teeth thereon.

Any engine based throttle linkages that may be different from the manual if there is a pull cable downshift mech.

Meanwhile been looking at colours and found the perfect one for Druk

According to the website in German the Produkt ist auf lager...

I learned from the parts seller that the front seats are locked in place by a system of vacuum pipes that engage a motor under the front seats to lock them as the front door is shut. Needless to say he was confident that the probability of it working is quite small!

Given parts availability for this looks nightmarish, I wonder if a W124 coupe system could be used. As secure seats are essential, more work needed.

Been putting the headlight units back together. Quite fiddly - the adjustment nuts that thread into the adjustment bolts are held in place by rubber grommets that fit into much smaller holes in the return of the reflectors - difficult enough getting them out but impossible to get back in. So I cheated and drilled the holes in the reflector slightly larger. All is now perfect.

The new reflectors have a different bulb circuit which is confusing me, so I'll post some photos later.

The vacuum is supplied from the engine manifold--- there are vacuum "actuators" under the seats but not "motors" as such. The diaphragms are possibly toast at this point in time but could be tested by a Mitivac which might be a good investment? W124 vacuum parts could almost certainly be used with little or no modification.
There's a lot more on that bolinko site documentation /8-dokumentacja under 250C/CHASSIS BODY/SEATS AND SEATBELTS

Wiring question - the indicator and fog lamp use the same as before, so no problem, but the centre light has a different fitting attached to the reflector, so I'll have to remove the old centre fitting and use the wires, but unlike the old one there's only one attachment terminal (by the little sidelight). I'm using H4 bulbs - would a dab of solder in the old location suffice or should I use a proper H4 connector and if so where do I put the three wires?

Ignore my witterings, I've worked it out - there are two connectors, but only with a hole in it. The current mount has the wired connectors in a bayonet fitting that crimps over the ones on the reflector, which I shall try and replicate.

since i still cant send private messeges, are you still interested in those 3.07 differentials? :D

Yes, but not now. If the 2.5 engine in the coupe turns out to be in poor condition I'll organise an engine swap with a V8. At current timing I'm not going to know that for a few more months.

I have been working my way through the chrome parts bin from the car, needless to say to total confusion. I have a surplus of chrome from one side but a shortage on the other. So I popped over for a search and and found still more of the surplus parts, with the consolation that two rusty trim parts I'd found are actually on the car already in better nick.

Also came back with an Almond frangipane tart, a slice of lemon sponge cake and a mince pie, all made by Jill.

I must get the car over here, my waistline is going to become a problem soon!

Propshaft for the automatic arrived from Germany today in very nice condition. No idea where I'll put it though in the meantime.

Quick question if anybody knowledgeable lurking - various internal bits and pieces like the auto gear selector are a bit dry around the moving parts. What would be the best form of long term lubrication for them?

With lots of little things to grease it will be worth it, so ordered.

Popped over to say hello to Jill and Tony's daughter and her lovely Springer Spaniel puppy Milly, cheese scones on the menu and the date for moving the car is next Sunday, as Tony2's s-i-l Laurence (a powerful chap) is free that date to help with his pickup and trailer.

Moving on!

A quick question. I'm researching the requirements for the Megasquirt conversion, and injector choice is sticking out. I've hunted around but as yet can find no information on the size of the current injectors and therefore what modern replacements to look for.

All very useful thank you. What I'm really after is the physical dimensions - the issue when finding replacement injectors for the SM wasn't the technical side but ones that actually fit the holes - my specialist uses CX injectors for that.

(for obvious reasons the current injectors can't be used as they work on the pulse system that D jet uses).

It would appear from the bosch number 0280150035 you share injectors with the early V12 Jaguar engines. Perhaps these guys could tell you exactly or you could deduce them from the seal dimensions?
