Mercedes W114 250 Coupe - help!

The link is not showing up on my screen Bellow. Edit - is now! It's a couple of tones darker and with more grey to help the colour match. Under artificial light it looks well, very similar.

For sure - when I cited the Tunis Beige it was in isolation with no regard to matching with the red interior - your choice will work beautifully with the red. Around those tones, the contrast with the chrome works best I think. Too light a tone and the chrome gets lost, too dark a shade and the contrast can be a touch brutal. Also, proportionally with regard to surface areas, the strengths of tones interior to exterior will balance well - if you know what I mean.

A couple more of that gorgeous SEL

Daylight rather than twilight shows the grey a bit more

A greeny grey = perfect for a red interior IMHO, especially with that green tint in the glass.... :):)

Definitely 728 H

Brother in law recommended a local radiator re-corer so he will be checked out this week. Busy now clearing up car to go up to Dan and Matt etc, with luck Tony2 will give me a hand turning the car round tomorrow.

A quick EPC question. I'm trying to find out what kick down switch arrangements there are for the W114 coupe but entering my chassis number obviously doesn't help. The next question is, are there any components in common with a W116? Trying to maximise the chance of sourcing this before the car needs the gearbox decision.

Charles, just to say I really admire what you are doing here, you are going much much further than I am doing on my 126.

As for EPC, do you have any part numbers for the kick down switch?
When I look on EPC for the 114022, I get part number A0003000141, which when you look at the part, and see what models it was used in, i get the following:

It is also available for non car cross country vehicle 463, no idea what that is, need to have a look.

Anyway hope it helps, seems 116 and 123 could be helpful

Ah the 463 is the G class, if you want the specific G class codes/models let me know.

Exactly which automatic gearbox are we talking about here Charles ? The control arrangements will possibly depend on that. There will a vacuum modulator, some form of mechanical linkage to the throttle and some form of throttle/throttle pedal operated electrical switch. Take a look at the second manual I sent you [ not the W114/115 one ] the other one - it has lots of adjustment details which may help get a handle on what the normal set up was??

I'd certainly consider fitting a suitable 722 (four speed switchable from a W201,W124 etc) may make a sensible upgrade? They're cheap, available and bulletproof too.

I'll dig out the serial number tomorrow - currently one Citroen SM is in the way of the box, having moved the coupe out and put it on the other side of the garage. It is a box from a 1972 W114 250CE (complete with linkage etc) so I am hoping it is pretty much plug and play if I can get the correct kick down assembly. Given I have the correct propshaft too, I am disinclined to fit anything else.

Oh, you have a suitable box? Makes sense using so. My misunderstanding.

Bought it some 2months ago, which in thread terms is almost pre-historic, so you're not the only one!
