Mercedes W114 250 Coupe - help!

I've seen worse!

It's not for me though on the coupe.

I do like the W123 colours though - some splendid ones:

These all seem to me to be happy colours before wretched 'good taste' got in the way and everything had to be white, grey, silver or black.

Not sure I'd really like that under my hood when this is what I shall have

Well that just brightened up my day quite nicely there Charles. Clearly a man of taste. :)

I quite fancy the dark green. A deep shine almost looks like very still water. I'm crap at explaining what I mean.
A wet look as they call it in the detailing world.

Will it be ready by May the 16th?

I know you can't go but I can get the car here for you safely.

Much as I'd like it ready by then Olly I think it's a really slim possibility, not least I won't have picked up the seats by then. It's going to be another 2-3 weeks before it goes off for bodywork, painting and full engine out overhaul.

I get what you mean on the green!

An example with red leather (but a more purple dark red). Photos don't really do it justice.

BENTLEY SPOTTING: Bentley Turbo R by Hooper

As you say Charles photo's not good. When I was involved with the 450SEL 6.9 Armouring and Range Rovers quite a few where done in Brewster Green, they looked stunning. Lots of depth to the paintwork.

Just so that one can visualise how bright red this interior will be when re-covered, here's a splendid R107 with the same colour. I'd love to have the skills to work with photoshop to play around but getting the match right is really a vital part of the process. Margin for error is quite limited!

Tip: Easier than photoshop, if you want to remove the colour and view tones only - squint. Seriously, scrunch your eyes up and the colours disappear leaving the tones visible.

I'm sticking with the good old-fashioned mood-board. All I now need to do is get the guys to spray all 41 correct colours for the year of production (45 but I have four panels already) and then get out the internal panels. I'm certain they won't mind.

Some nice colours working together here Charles - unexpectedly....

Can't help feeling either a dark charcoal or much lighter colours would go well with red - or, even that green with the two together would look hip with a bright red interior I'm sure - especially with bright orange indicator lenses. :):)

Use the squint technique c/- Mr Bellow....

They really do nothing for me.

The latter somehow reminds me of a childhood sweet which name escapes me.

Mood board time, chaps. Don your chiffon scarves, sharpen your fingernails and change your names to Sandy.

Papyrus white (current colour) and red (yes there are two holes in the vinyl - shocking bore). Works, but so does a Toyota Corolla. 5/10

Hell or Horizont, you decide but a nice blend a la French foreign legion circa 1954 (full of Germans with naughty pasts). A better result than Dien Bien Phu certainly 6/10

Doing it in the garden in the witching hour is not the best technique. Nevertheless Sandbeige and red is starting to get there 7/10

Finally, showing the weight of colour holds up well even if I don't like it, Byzanzgold.

Not having any more body panels, I submit the result is darker tone matches red better.

You know my answer Charles --------Byzanzgold going by the picture above :thumb: however if it looks like the pic that follows then --- no :(----- its so difficult without seeing paint in front of you.
