Miles per tank

Since the tank hit the half empty point (around 200 and a bit miles) the fuel gauge seems to be dropping a lot slower now, it has dropped just under two notches from the half empty point and Ive now hit 288 miles. Hopefully this will continue!! Id be a very happy man if I can average 550miles per tank.

Any idea what shape the tank is?

I've done a whole tank in 120 miles at Goodwood :). 8 MPG or thereabouts..

Cheers,

Gaz

S212 E300. Normally about 550-600 miles per tank. Short runs are about 43-46mpg, longer runs between 50-60mpg

Well I got 584 miles out of the E350 estate on the last tank, which I think is stunning.

Well, I can't tell how stunning without knowing how big the tank is! Don't they do an extended range (80L?) tank?

IIRC the lastest C Class is offered elsewhere, although not in the UK, with a 45L tank to keep the weight down for emissions testing.

My Saab 9-3 indicates 700 odd (1.9tdi) miles to a tank but that would be sitting at 50 in 6th. I'm pretty sure 600 is achievable at 65 though.

I should be picking up an E class diesel in the next few days to replace it so shall see what that gives me. I'll be doing a minimum of 500 miles in it the following week.

I average 38mpg and have an 80 litre tank which gives a range of 668 miles.

I believe you but does it cost 10% more?

It costs 8p per litre more - so even at £1.08 per litre for diesel it's not 10% more to buy. Anyway, you get triple Shell points so you get money off vouchers every few months and it'll save you considerably more on maintenance as you're less likely to have problems with your injectors and fuel pump etc as it keeps them clean and lubricates them. The EGR is less likely to get clogged up as well due to the fuel producing less soot (it's GTL diesel) and the cleaning agents also help to keep to clean it.

BTW I don't work for Shell - just based this on running my diesel cars 40,000 miles a year on the stuff!

600miles in 9hrs 24mins ave spd 64mph and still no reserve light on, s211 I6

The I6 diesel is even better on fuel than the OM642 V6 despite what the official figures say - I've had two of both!

The best ive ever had was 63.94mpg on a brim to brim over 50miles Obc said 62.4mpg, usual mileage is around 50. The above pic was a Continental trip from Austria to the Hoek v Holland

I have a friend on here with a 3.0 v6 and the best he has had is 45mpg, Although the v6 is such a smooth sounding engine over the I6 and more powerful as standard.
