Mk V Golf Gti

Looks nice John, good price, I assume the mileage is 120,000 which is a tad high for the year but I'm not one generally to be put off by high miles, certainly a nice spec
The mileage is a very subjective issue and I must confess to having sent off an e-mail to clarify this issue.

Hi recycled,
I think they still have belts with a 100,000 mile recommended replacement period, BUT.... I do stand to be corrected :)

John

We have one at work (but not DSG). It's 16 months old and has nigh on 50k on the clock already. It's on the road just about 24/7 and apart from servicing and essentials (tyres/blades etc) it's never missed a beat.

Oh yes, and it is very quick and handles beautifully

John,

If you can pm me a desired spec I can forward it to a friend who works for VW, see if he can come up with anything.

Thanks very much indeed, I know he is not in any rush.

pm on the way

Yours sincerely

DSG hmm.... There are only a hand full of people that can fix them apparently. See HJs's site for details.

Personally I dislike it, way too eager to change down and un responsive from a stanstill, however that maybe because its mated to the 2.0tdi.

Not a fan here but it maybe nice with the petrol engine.

Only bad comments I have heard re DSG is as others have mentioned already, some find a hesitency when pulling away that doesn't suit them.

Just in case, I presume your son has checked out a MKV up close inside? I checked out a couple of GT trim MKVs and just didn't find them that inspiring compared to a MKIV, but this of course is personal taste. We were all set on one as the obvious MKIV replacement until we actually sat in a few, at which point we both changed our minds!

The 2.0 TFSI is apparently very good.

Hi Graham,
I just showed my son your post, he has a Mk IV and agrees that some of the interior in the Mk V is not as nice as the IV, plus he is no fan of the cloth Mk V seats. :o :) Got to be leather :D

John

I am sure the GTI with leather tips the scales of desirability.

Don't tell him I know of a 2.0 TFSI MKV with 420BHP!

oh, and if he's gonna look for a special edition GTi, tell him to look for the pirelli edition. 'cos tell me these seats don't look awesome!

Do these headlights look dodgy?

indeed they do, looks like an early morning pic with dew on the lights, if not then even more odd!

I was thinking if the 'dew' was on the outside then where was it on the windscreen or the BMW. My suspicion is that it's on the inside of the lights?

tread marks on your ****.???

Can't begin to imagine how any one could drive their car over those nice seats. The tyre tread does look impressive though :)

It's dew. The bonnet and lower bumper are dripping.
