Can any one advise the best place to source a fuel pump for a 04 plate ML 270CDI the merc part Number is A6120700001.

Mine has just started to weep from the rear and would like to replace before it gets any worse.

Where do I check my fuel pump to see if it weeping?

You will see if diesel is on the plastic pipes or may be wet on the top or front and use a torch to look in the front engine cover and see if that is wet and the smell of diesel is a good sign, most noticable first thing as when hot the weep evaporates. taking it off tomorrow and will post pics if able.

Have a look round the pump and it will be moist. however you need to ensure it is actually the pump leaking and not the rubber o rings on the low pressure fuel lines (common).

You can actually get seal kits from Bosch for the pumps which are a fraction of the cost of a recon pump.

I'm having my diesel high pressure pump replaced this week. I don't know enough about the situation to go for a repair to weepy pipes of even using a Bosch repair kit so I've taken my Indie's advive (I do trust him) and gone for replacement recon pump. Surprisingly the Merc agent who's supplying the pump said that they don't do a NEW one - only recon !!
