Have agreed a settlement with the insurance company for my stolen SL60. They initially offered me what I paid for the car a year ago and, after haggling, I actually got more. So a pretty good result and some proof that these cars hold their money really well if they are in good nick.

After much deliberation and many hours poring over Top Marques, I'm buying another one. I saw it yesterday and am hoping to collect it next week.

That's great news Nick  . Good luck with your new one.

Well done. Post some pictures when you get it. What colour/spec is it?

Good news is I don't need to to change my signature pic - its silver with black leather!
Virtually the same spec as the old one but sadly no heated seats. This winter my buttocks will be significantly chillier than last........
1997 P, 24K miles, Elec everything, cd changer, metal hard top. Immaculate and runs smoother than the last one!

See my post in Classified for some items I have to sell..........

Sounds like a peach with such low miles.

You should get a few quid for the bits n pieces aswell. Sounds like the thieves have ended up giving you a result! That doesnt happen often.

Would rather it hadn't happened but hopefully I will have come out of it as well as I could have expected.

I am so pleased to read how smoothly everything is going. We read so many messages criticising insurance companies and now you are presenting what appears to be a fair settlement.

Is it possible to name the company you are with just so that members can be aware of what appears to be a decent company to deal with?

Fingers crossed that the new car lives up to all your expectations.

Will heated seats be easy to get hold of for this particular model?

Regards,
John

too much aggro to retro fit them - I will have to find some way to survive without from now on. Will probably just wear an extra pair of pants.

forgot to mention - its got cupholders in the centre console!! Presumably so that when its cold and your bum is icy you can buy a coffee.

It's not that bad, all you need is the elements, some wiring, a relay or two and the switches. You'd need to either cut holes in the trim to fit the switches or buy the correct trim from the stealership or somewhere. The elements are about £30 each (requires two for each seat), wiring probably about £50-100 including the relays and switches will be about £10-20 each I expect. Trim however will be about £150-200.

Ok so it IS too much aggro ;)

yup.

1. walk down to high street
2. go into M&S
3. Buy pants
4. No trim, wiring, switches, dealers required.

:cool:Still you will not have to worry about spontaneous combustion  Heating elements and methane gas, do not make good bed fellows!! :o :o

Take care,
John

Hey, thanks Alfie!!

It was taken at Bruntingthorpe on the grass in the midde of the circuit. Fabulously sunny day, taken with a UV filter on the camera.

Heres another from the same lot:
