MPG with different brands of Diesel

For my job I analyse vehicle MPGs, all diesel vehs, temperature makes a big difference to fuel consumption, watch your MPG go up as the temperature rises when Spring finally makes an appearance.

I recently found this interesting VW article

http://en.volkswagen.com/content/me...itions/rendition.file/effizient_unterwegs.pdf

Every journey is different. For a 10-km trip, a difference of 20ºC in outdoor temperatures
(roughly the difference between summer and winter temperatures) can make a 20% difference
to your fuel consumption. And if you normally travel not 10 km but just 2 km, that can increase
your personal fuel consumption by as much as 50%.

Boxbrownie the reason why it runs ok on Asda Diesel is tat its pulled out of the Esso depot at Purfleet.
Indeed it is......I have seen the ASDA tankers there, also seen very occasionally an ESSO tanker at ASDA.
The change over period for winter to summer grade diesel is usually around the middle of march and the middle of october for summer to winter
Indeed, but the OP filled up on the South Coast and then again in Scotland, usually the oil companies don't bother with cold weather additives in the southern region, but Scotland would most definately have had a "winter mix" this time of year.

interestingly there is no mention of fuel supplier/type/grade
Funny that eh? ;)
