Thanks to all who have posted on my threads and countless others about these cars... I collected my new model today from up north. It's a 1999 model, it's lovely, it goes super-fine, and it will be a beauty once I've done a few jobs to it.

I actually agreed the sale three weeks ago but left it with the previous owner whilst sorting a stable for it... He was a gent, the car has been looked after. I am uber-contented in a way that only new Mercedes ownership can create. It's a lot of car for just a bit of money.

I have a few jobs to do to bring it up to its full beauty but they can wait whilst I enjoy the first flush...

Congratulations on the new addition!

You bought this from Bill, right? Seemed like a nice and very genuine guy. I was going to buy this before a local one popped up that had the AMG kit and 2 piece wheels.

That's the man and the car. It's one of those times that you know you've got lucky. It needs detailing but that's the fun for a pimp like me...

Did you go for 320? Got a picture? Do you love yours too?

Very nice but please look after the hard top, sitting on brick isn't good, try eBay for a stand or get one welded up - enjoy the car

Lovely that

An absolutely brilliant SL that is. Its a gem!

I have the stand... It was the prior owner who took these pictures. But thanks.

Yes went for a 320, its got a couple of niggles that I'm sorting - but thats half of the fun!

Forgive my newbie-ness, but how do I post photos in the forum?

These images aren't great, I'm waiting for the exhaust tip to come back from the chrome plater and some decent weather for a photoshoot.

Looks very nice. Sadly the hard top is on now though I guess???!!!

What is a ball park figure for a similar car? I could be tempted as I might be looking soon!

It's been dropped on H&R springs

It looks a little too low for my liking. I think you'll be bottoming out on speed bumps and hitting the front bumper on kerbs while parking how it is currently I suspect. You could easily raise it (at least so the front and rear height matches) with different spring pads.

It looks like a very nice example aside from that though I must admit.
