Thanks Rich,How long's a while? Is it 3 years or 30k on the factory fit LSD?
You didn't mention gearbox fluid change...def worth sticking to recommended period for that as a minimum standard. Not uncommon to get minor issues otherwise.
I think MB say one change 31k or 3 years for the gearbox in the service manual, but consensus is EVERY 3 years/31k. I'm no expert, but I think most just change fluid and filter. Thanks Rich,
Last LSD service was about 30k miles ago but that was nearly 5 years ago.
Whats the schedule for the gearbox? I see it was last done about 2 years / 10k miles ago. Does it need flushed through or simply a change of fluid and filter?
Spot on. Thanks for the pointersI think MB say one change 31k or 3 years for the gearbox in the service manual, but consensus is EVERY 3 years/31k. I'm no expert, but I think most just change fluid and filter.
So the hose doesn’t get wedged beneath the wheel. What are the yellow plastic bits for?
p.s. your car looks superb!
Ah, thanks. That annoys me to, so I position my buckets around each corner of the car.So the hose doesn’t get wedged beneath the wheel.
Yes, these are branded WheelGuardz - one of those little gadgets that just neatly solves a problem.Ah, thanks. That annoys me to, so I position my buckets around each corner of the car.
It’s a thanks but no thanks I’m afraid.Long shot but do you want to swap it for a 59 plate 3-litre diesel? I will also buy you coffee and one (1) small snack while we sort the relevant paperwork
Teddy, having had both cars together on the drive together for 3 years, the 350cdi is a seriously hard car to beat. Leagues ahead of 5 Series and A6 equivalents in terms of sheer refinement. Going from the 63 to the 350 in the same day, never ever did I feel short changed in it. Still have the 350 today and it’s coming on 10 years old.Long shot but do you want to swap it for a 59 plate 3-litre diesel? That’s an interesting take and you’re obviously well placed to draw comparison. It sounds like an impressive accolade for the oil burner if I’m honest. Probably a useful combination to have at your disposal but I’d always pick the E63 if there was a choice and mileage/fuel wasn’t an issue.Teddy, having had both cars together on the drive together for 3 years, the 350cdi is a seriously hard car to beat. You would never know it was a diesel. It’s very quiet and refined. Mileage and fuel never crossed my mind with the 63, did over 40k in 3 years with it. Don’t mention fuel and V8 AMG in the same sentenceThat’s an interesting take and you’re obviously well placed to draw comparison.
