My SL55 AMG

You might notice the spoiler is missing, the tape supplied didn't hold it down for long so I'll be using some PU adhesive to fix it on for good shortly.
Sikaflex is recommended

Im on self isolation for 14 days following 2 weeks leave from work so I've had plenty of time to play, the NHS track & trace app told me to isolate 2 days before going back to work 😜

So is your rear view mirror plastic casing black? and the map lights etc that surrond it on the roof, all black plastics?

Cables all run down the A pillar on the passanger side, microphone cable runs inside the roof trim. The USB power and AUX cable drop into the glovebox through a hole I haven't drilled yet and connect to a USB charging socket I haven't recevied. I'll post some pics when its all done :thumb:
Yes, all black, I’ve just replaced the black vanity mirror drivers side.

Thanks mate :thumb:

I finally got my hands on all 4 wheels  So i wasted no time getting the tyres mounted and chucked on. The car desperately needs a clean as do the wheels and tyres because of the tyre soap. But im well chuffed with the outcome, fitment is perfect its screaming out to be lowered but massive improvement

Quick clean and wax tomorrow morning 👍
Love the wheel choice 👍😎

I agree, these cars do sit slightly high in standard trim.

Lovely 👌🏻

I wondered how it would look with the grille colour matched to the wheels 🤔

Looks fantastic ! Are you sure the car want going so fast the spoiler came off ?
The brickwork on the house reminds me of my grandparents old house from Southport , that brick colour and thin mortar joint is a giveaway

Cheers for that, I might keep an eye out then for some black plastics and then start trimming the interior. It'd look so much nicer with a alcantara style finish.

Thanks mate, not sure I'd like that to be fair but if anyone had some photoshop skills I'd like to see what it would look like.

Thank you, haha I'd not be happy if the spoiler came off at speed!

Were not far from Southport, you can see it across the estuary most days :thumb: Could quite possibly the samehouse builder.

Managed to wash the car this morning so thought I'd get some better photos. I much better with a spanner than a camera!

I belive STAR can lower the car a bit but if that's not enough then you will need either lowering links or a coilover conversion. I agree that the R230 SL's to sit a bit high.

I was thinking of buying a STAR system to help with the ownership issues and servicing and as a side bonus lower the car too, but im not sure it'll lower the car enough for me. I think its going to have to be links to get it sat right which I think will probably be quite low in the lowest setting.

If it has abc then it will automatically lower itself once a set speed is reached so don't go too low and risk rubbing the tyres at speed

I did not know that, thanks for the heads up. Is there any conventional wisdom regarding how low to run?

I think the front tyres will be ok but the rears look like they would hit the wheel arch, could just be the angle of the photo.

Standard ride height one an SL500 is 70cm from ground to centre point on the wheel arch measured thru the hub, I assume its same on SL55.

I'll give them a shout, thanks for that.

I think I'll go for a stance similar to this:-

Same wheel and tyre specs and clearly alot lower than mine :thumb:

The stance in the linked thread looks good, I wonder if that car is on coilovers. Have you checked yours as it does look high.

Beautiful car! Will have to wander the streets of Lytham next time I'm over that way! Love the fact that you do your own 3D printing. I have been involved in IT for a very long time and that technology still blows my mind. 3D printing - WTF!!!!

Mine is 700 front and 720 rear. I've no idea if the linked one is on coils, that would be quite rare for an SL55 surely?

Thanks mate, well if your over this way just give me a nod. I pass through Preston all the time and use the M55 ALOT! 3D printing is amazing and I've been doing it for years, I make parts for racing simulators, well just the motion actuators really. I've recently sold my simulator and im thinking of a making MK2 soon. Its an amazingly affordable thing and if you have a requirement for one you'll soon find alot more applications for it, fantastic little man toys.

The few SL's that I have seen that are lowered to that extent have been on coilovers, there are some YouTube videos where the owners have gone to coilovers, one by Tavarish on an SL55 and another by someone called Hunter Swint.
