So i bought the c230k After using the father in laws 96 plate for a while . It goes ok and will do the job , I did'nt know about the launch control and have no fun in corners control that came on the 99 models but after unplugging the abs sensors in the boot thats sorted .

Next i want a larger drive pulley for the charger Crank end where do you get these or what size shoud i get made i only want a bit more boost , See i have a friend who Chips Tractors and he can get mappings for almost anything and is 100% confident in remapping the Brain on the merc .

Iam lucky enough to have another friend who owns Auto cool radiators and can make me a deepr intercooler solid boost pipes , Ali fuel tank etc so any info and advice on these would be great .

The car has Some Nasty Chequered interior all be it spotless it is still coming out , every piece figured i could kill 2 birds with one stone remove offensive interior and get weight saving in 1 . Door panels the lot , iam happy with rattles wind noise and general squeeks associated ive owned a subaru before :dk: was hoping to get the car a fair bit lighter it shouldnt be to hard to get 100 kilo off it once i remove all the aircon , trim sound deadening , Fuel tank , Half the exhaust , Ibc tank I mean washer bottle :thumb:

Does any one know where i can get details on the pulley size and or any other relevant info .

Does anyone have one of these as a track toy ? , I have elvington near me and lots of minor roads to it . Its about 20 miles away .

The car is fun to drive but till i get the gearbox issues sorted ( in my other posts ) manual and very tight to get into gear , i will find out when i pull it apart hopefully it may just be the linkages but time will tell .

Anyones experiances and advice will be welcomed . Iam lucky enough to have Bogg brothers in my Village which is an old school tuning company for grass track cars , track cars anything with a bike engines in etc etc , they also have a 2wd rolling road and endless fabrication skills . I have a few C&G accilades and between me and them should be able to get the car moving . Does anyone know where i can get a cage as customs are expensive i figured safety devices maybe my best bet ??

i guessing the 190 hp may have flagged a bit so a good service all oils and a viscous fan removal are first in the list aswell as a air con removal procedure planned to free up air to the rad and i was going to use the air con fans on the main rad i figured i can thermo switch then to the hose as i know the viscous fan is pants on the car unless you have it well above tickover ........

Ive said enough i think PLease any advice .

Christ are bogg brothers still around. Famous old school tuning, fond memories along with visiting yukka at Yukspeed :D

Can't help with the car but a heavy and underpowered merc would not be my choice as a track car..

That's a fun project you've got going there.

Likewise I can't help with the technical questions you've asked, but just wanted to add: have you thought of lighter wheels and stickier tyres, plus removing the glass windows and replacing with plastic?

I dont know my friend has a 635 csi 86 plate i think and now stripped goes very well

Iam not in it for glory or " i nailed a Porsche this weekend " just good times , 230-40 hp and ton and a bit isnt to shabby a power to weight torques good too ,

Ive seen many all Full of power and no skill so iam working down the opposite route

Boggs moved to a new massive old grain store over the road theres 6 houses where there old place was there now all for making hyabusha powered micra shelled space framed mentalist mobiles that regulary screem past my house .

I have thought down the lexon window route and getting rid of all the mechs and motors for the windows I think Adrian flux well Have a Mair when they ask is it modified , " well erhh Yep a Bit " Hee he i think its a good plan iam making notes here and thanks for taking the time guys

Just a few words of advice.. ensure the brakes and handling out perform the engine by about 200% if you get my drift :thumb:

#1 trick of any race car is to sort the power out last and ensure you can go round corners faster than anyone else..

I know where you're coming from. The other w/e I saw a Rover SD track car and initially scratched my head. But on the track the V8 sounded great and it was rather rapid too :)

I figured if i get just some decent new discs like brembo or alike new pads ebc fast road or track ,Braided hoses from pirtek and new fluid they should see me through a day and work out whether i need a new plan beyond ,,, Iam hoping not to brake much  but i know where your coming from thanks ,,,,

My driving is quite spirited you could say and i have had a couple of warnings in the past form the Federalies about my driving nothing serious but as i get older iam angling to getting it out of the track rather than round tesco's car park :dk:

So ive done a bit of digging and found that :

power is 190hp

Torques is 207 lb's

1420 kilo

134 bhp per ton at present

142 mph
0-60 in 8.4

Iam happy with that as a base

if i can get 230-240 hp shave about 100 + kilos i think it will be a lot more than that once i get the grinder out time will tell .

Please note the car is no minter iam not destroying a c230 it has been accident damaged i would say though hpi clear it has about 5 different shades of silver and over spray all over the spot ,, i purchased to fullfill this ambition .

Part of the reason for this car is i can advertise my business on it as we will soon be adding track day camera systems to our stock list :D

Not sure how much i can put down to the company but ill try

With the stock suspension and losing 100Kg it will ride a bit high and lurch around corners.

Lower springs and stiffer anti roll bars will get you most of the way there.

Good point ive been looking for coilovers but so far have only found stuff thats costing more than the car ,, i was going to use some road legal semi slicks aswell 17's i think is plenty ill also get some simple strut braces made for the top mounts . Thanks

i do believe there are pully kits for the charger!
i think there is a carlsson
and
some one else!
also the charger
is cluched so it only makes what it wants!

Ah right i hear its clutched in at around 15oo rpm on mine as ive pulled all the silencers off , iam presuming when i get this remap my friend can also control the over boost settings and clutch settings ? if there ecu regulated if not they must use a boost sensor which iam sure we can confuse if need be , i had heard of a pulley kit a while back in the states that had a chip with it and was around £500 but i cant for the life of me find it now , Thanks for the input .

Kleeman do a pulley kit for the supercharger as well but they are rather pricey so I am informed. Drop Shude a pm as he was looking into it a while ago.

Hi

I'm not too familiar with this power unit..but maybe another member could confirm this...is this unit fitted with a remote oil cooler? If not! its a must for track days.

I'm using Pirtek to build me oil cooler lines as I need to re-position my oil cooler.

As for strut braces...build one for the rear..it make a a bit of difference to the way the car handles.

if your going to strip weight off, make a note of the weights that you have removed and where you removed them from. its all good to remove weights but it may unsettle the overall weight distribution on the chassis and screws up the handling.

hydraulic power steering pump...the Mercs pumps are great..plenty of hydraulic power, even at idle...the down side is..its wasting so much energy at high revs and the hydraulic assistance is not even been used.

At a later stage you might want to consider an electric hydraulic pump from a saxo or something similar and have a on/off switch in the cockpit for hydraulic assistance control.

cheers

Thanks for that, at about midnight lastnight i found them from searching google if only i had gone to bed when i looked at posts today i would have seen youve sent me a lnk :D

so ive got word back that i need a fpr and different plugs a new belt and to modify my mass air pipe , which i have asked how and why as iam putting a new intercooler on i thought my mate could sort this too .

So any way 28hp at the wheels prior to remap apparently so iam figuring that the FW hp must be getting on for 40+ which is what i had heard months back from these pulleys ,, I know it may eat chargers but i know where i can pick the odd one up from if need be .. and i have had chance of of few engines and boxes for under £200.00 so what the hell .

Just the price now but iam sure it must have been these guys last time that i found and fees and shipping iam sure there about £500 any under willbe a bonus to me ...

i recon this type of mass pipe is what you need:D
W202 COLD INTAKE
should be fun!
i recon you could have a pully made.
i offered my 230k to a chap i know who does track days but he wasnt interested
he recond he would have to put to much on it
and it was to heavy!

just got quote back for £450 delivered kit pulley etc 28hp at the wheels about 45 fw
weighing in at 1300 standard so ill give it a go , i guess to some people track mean caterham fast but iam not expecting that we will see

Thanks Everyone

Ive started pulling the merc apart now . Thanks for all the input , ive decided to ditch all the air con as well in an attempt to save weight , Iam stripping the interior , 1/2 the exhaust from the cats back i presume there cats 2 side by side ? ,

Everything from inside the car other than the dash is going , The fuel tank is coming off and a small one is going opposite the battery in the boot , iam looking for coilovers but so far its looking like USA imports for £500 .

Ive got the pulley kit sorted for 28 whp about 48 at flywheel . :bannana:

Although ive just been looking at the charger and noticed the freewheel part is very wobbly is this a sign that its knackered ????

Iam lucky enough to have bogg brothers over the road so iam hoping they will build the dtm style door exit exhaust for me if not its out with the mig , Ill put some pic on as soon as i get it looking somthing like , Boggs also have a rolling road so ill get it on there and see what all the effort make HP wise , iam also going to loose the Viscous fan in favour of Electric ones .

Iam looking for someone with knoweledge on these dual mass flywheels as i want rid of it for weight and the fact i think the one thats on is knackered

As iam in the Logging business as well as Vehicle CCTV i can get the car on a weigh bridge near home and see if pulling all the bits off has done much weight wise . :thumb:
