Hi all,

I got a great deal on a set of 17" 5spoke AMG alloys and tyres from eBay yesterday, but upon trying to fit them, the bolts on my std 16" (horrific) alloys were too long.

Apparently, the DCP offset on the bolts i have is too large and i need a shorter set of bolts, where the new alloys are "thinner" in the centre where the bolts fit, as they are offered up they leave a gap between the wheel fixing hub and the wheel itself of approx 1.5-2.0cm.

So HELP !!! :)

I need to rapidly source a set of shorter bolts and locking wheel nuts for these new AMG alloys (apparently originally came off an 08 plate Merc - assuming this from the registration number which was written into the inner side of one of the wheels)

Where do i go without having to pay main dealer rates please?

Cheers in advance.

Ebay sells bolts.
Ask the chap who sold you the wheel? He might still have them?

The late model wheels i beleive have a much different offset to the w210 wheels.

Post up the part numbers of the alloys or a link to the ebay auction. They must be AMG IV but only come in 17" on the W204, you originally said 5 spoke then 6 spokes?

The AMG IV is five spoke isn't it ?

I think these may be the six spokes that TimKemp was speaking about the other day on his refurb thread.

They are standard fit C class wheels i think , that have a little AMG badge off to one side , i'm not sure they are fitted to any actual AMG models.

Sounds like w204 amg 17" wheels. Too high an offset as mentioned. It fit 15 or 20mm hubcentric spacers both front and rear.

Tyres are wrong size too so will have to be changed.

For W210:
Front ...........................Rear
17x7.5 ET37 235/45R17 17x8.5 ET30 235/45R17 AMG
17x7.5 ET35 235/45R17 17x8.5 ET30 235/45R17 AMG

The W204 alloys are:
Front alloy wheels: 17x7.5" ET47 - 225/45/17
Rear alloy wheels: 17x8.5" ET58 - 245/40/17

NPUK - yes you are right those are the ones.

So having now identified, and being a complete numpty clearly - what do i need to get to make them fit, and i see from a later posting i probably need new tyres too?

You could sell them on and get ones that are the correct fitment as it seems you got these pretty cheap so can probably make a profit on them.

Or as Akash said to fit these you will need hub centric spacers front and rear, also new bolts and tyres. For spacers 10mm spacers on the front and 28mm on the rear.

Company that has been recommended on here in the past for spacers: [ WHEELS UK : SCC WHEEL SPACERS ] - Mercedes-Benz 'C Class' - W202'

Sounds like it is going to get expensive ...

New tyres , new bolts , spacers .....

Out them and buy the right ones. :)

You can get away with 225/45/17 and 245/40/17 Tyres. But you do need to space the wheels out. If you like the style of wheels, keep them. Look on eBay for spacers, £80-100 should get you a full set of hubcentric spacers and bolts.

Rear alloy wheels: 17x8.5" ET58 - 245/40/17

what would be the impact on a) tyres/wheels and on performance/economy by using the existing ET47 and ET48 tyres on my w210 rig, assuming taht i can get these bolts or whatever it is i need to fit them up safely?

Hi akash, sound like i am a bit of a div!!!

And being completely car unsavvy as you may have now guessed, could you be more specific as to what i need to get - and what exactly are these spacers? what role do they fulfil? I am determined to understand this so i dont make same mistakes again and again !
