New C63 Coupe Arrived!

Looking great Moff, and glad it got delivered all ok :thumb:

Regarding gearbox modes, I am also a big fan of M mode, however I do use S for round town. The quicker throttle response and pulling away in 1st gear just make it that bit more nippy.

Actually it feels like a completely different car than my previous C350, nothing really feels the same, acclerator, steering, braking, handling all feel amazing making my C350 feel pretty lame in comparison.

Having spent a week in a C180 AMG sport loan car, I would 100% agree with this. It really is a very different drive and noticeable from the first turn of the wheel.

Very nice. good choice on interior. I have that interior on mine. You will love this car.

I have had mine for ten months now 8000 miles and still get excited every time I drive her. Best car ever!!!!!!!!!!!

I've never noticed slow changes in manual mode, but then I've only ever driven normal manuals before so I've nothing similar to compare it to.

Try pressing and holding the down paddle in manual for quicker downshifts.

Thanks to everyone for the tips for Manual mode.

I've only covered 120 miles so far and feeling my way in.

Used S more today and 'get it'... Nice to cruise in C but you can get caught out a little and the downshifts mid bend frustrate. I also think the gearbox has to learn my driving style which is currently gentle as I run her in.

So far so good, love driving again, don't love looking at the distance left to see 140 miles with 3/4 tank left hahaha.

If you hold the downshift paddle it will shift down multiple gears if required.

Very refreshing to hear someone else who uses "M" mode :thumb:

It's surprising how many people don't use the paddles/ "M".

I let the car warm up in "C" mode and then switch straight to "M".

Me too, I always warm up nice and slow, let all the temps settle then straight to M mode - great fun! And if I've been out for a blast :D I always take the last 4 or 5 miles nice and easy to settle everything back down again. Always done it.

My C350 did that basically good for when you are overtaking - you're in 6th and it goes straight to 4th. It's just a bit slow though, in a DSG car you would give a quick double tap and its shifted instantly with no wait.

Got another drive tomorrow so will have a play :-)

Best way.

Always have mechanical sympathy.

There is a slight delay, but not anywhere as bad as some people suggest.

Once you get to know the car, you'll get used to adjusting your driving/ paddle timings and you'll think nothing of it.

I use the paddles all the time. Only use "C" to warm the car up first.

You have so much more control of the car and braking in "M" mode.

Hell of a lot more fun too.. Holding gears, prepping before/ after turns.. Listening to the exhaust note at different rpm's.. Etc..

Enjoy!

Great write up but it's not helping me... I'm desperately trying to convince myself that I don't want a C63 but its not working! Awesome looking car and the interior is beautiful.
I just don't know if I can live with the fuel economy. Keep us posted on how you get on.

Yeah, already done that for a gentle 2nd gear blat to 4500rpm through a tunnel with the windows down and sunroof open :-)

Just drove from Nottingham to Leeds with a few short blasts but mainly staying at 70-75mph... Would have been higher but I did a 2nd gear blast through the tunnel underneath Leeds train station.

It's pretty easy to get 23mpg on a motorway run. However once you start using the loud pedal, the mpg drops quickly. Extremely quickly.

It sure does, but christ its worth it

I don't do much miles either and my average is around 15-16mpg

did a 450miles trip and was getting around 25-27mpg which is very good for a 6.2 V8

The way they pull when you are doing motorway speeds and have to overtake is addictive :D

Interior looks amazing my colour choice too, your photos show it off well. Seats seem to be mostly white.

Not long to wait now...

Interesting you didn't go for the dealership experience for handover.. What if driver wrapped it on the way!

Perfect, you stopped grinning yet?
