C63 AMG - black with black wheels
I have a C63 on order, and arranged collection for the 24th March.

I just got a call from MB. My car is not only being built already, BUT WILL BE READY NEXT WEEK!!!! Can I pick it up early?

Now, there's paperwork to be done which will take at least a fortnight. That'd leave me looking at Feb anyway.

I talked to my mate Jon (who'd offered me a lift in his "beetle":D) and he said he could do anytime after Valentine's day.

As any child with a new toy, I'd LOVE to get it early. I've been counting down the days for the last 3 weeks, and there's a LOT still to go.

However, end of March would mean no danger of snow, and while there's none here at the moment, more (though apparently not much) is due this weekend. In fairness, I wouldn't use it when there was snow about - was planning to source some extra wheels and Wintrac Extremes over the summer, but what if there's snow about on pickup day, and I'm collecting it on 19"s and summer tyres:doh:

Plus I've my detailing trip arranged for 2 weeks after the scheduled pickup (24th March). Getting it early would mean the car would be untreated for up to 6 weeks.

WTF am I going to do?
:dk:

I would be straight on the plane.

Autobahns will be clear of snow and so what if you don't get it detailed till April? At least it will need it by then.

Are you having a protective layer put on??
If so make 100% sure the paint is corrected first, the amount of these I have seen where the dealer has sealed all the light scratches from when they washed the car on delivery is absurd.
I presume you are having someone proper get it better than 'out the factory' and then protecting?

If that is the case it won't matter when it is, I know people with 35 year old Porsches who have done that.

wow congrats beninlux! thats great news! I would definately pick it up sooner rather than later if i could!

Also i think i read that you are getting the car detailed from Rob - let us know how that goes as well...

Congrats on the purchase!

Yes, I would love to get it straight away - however, how does the registration side of things work? Obviously March would give you a newer plate....

He is in Luxembourg so not an issue on plate I would guess??

I picked up mine from Sindelfingen in early January. Loads of snow around and it never got above freezing for the whole trip but, because it's Germany, everything was fine. I can't see there is anything to worry about.

Yes, it's getting the gleammachine treatment. Same guy as did Benjy's C63, which looks fantastic. I'm coming back to the UK specially :thumb:

You're spot on, the registration is not age-based here, but on that subject, I'll need to decide on a 'plate for it. Either 2 letters and 4 numbers, or 5 numbers.

AM6063 has already been taken (though that guy sold hs C63 and put the plate on a TTRS:doh:).

Any ideas on the plate will be welcome:dk:

C63 and Luxemboug at least filling it up will be cheap :)

True enough, we are usually near the bottom of the list when it comes to expensive petrol (in Europe anyway)
:bannana:

The petrol (, diesel, etc) prices are actually set by the state, rather than the petrol companies, so even at motorway stations the petrol is the same price. Well worth filling here up on the way to the Nordschleife:thumb:

Good news Ben, your more than welcome to bring the booking forward if it suits you better, at the moment it wouldn't be an issue.

Thanks for that mate:thumb:

We've got hotel and crossing all paid for, and dinner all arranged with some old school friends of mine. Would be a bit of a faff to bring it all forward. Plus more chance of running into snow, especially over the Ardennes.

Think I'll have to take one for the team and go collect it at the end of Feb, that'll save me an month of looking at 'photos of Benjy's car!

Ha ha ha ha....mate you are more than welcome to taking a look at mine as much as you like.

Congratulations buddy that must have you wetting yourself now knowing that your baby will be ready next week.

I think you are wearing your sensible hat Ben and thats not a bad thing, if you feel more comfortable picking her up late Feb then do so. I found out how hard it was just getting my car back to my house in snow which was only 5 minutes away. If you have all your days booked up specifically on a certain day stick to your guns. Don't know if I could LOL:D

Ben - what on earth is all this I'll wait business??? With no new plate to wait for....get it bought!

Hello Benjy! How are you mate:thumb:

Was wondering when you'd come accross this thread! I am getting rather excited, my big day has just jumped forward by almost 30 days!
:bannana:

I emailed MB yesterday asking for the chassis number, which I need to arrange the insurance and VAT exemption. Apparently the VAT exemption takes a couple of weeks (once they poney up that number, which they haven't yet, will call them shortly to get that moving), then I'm not able to get any time off work until the 23rd Feb at the earliest:wallbash:

There's less days to go now, but they seem to be lasting longer than they were before. Is that normal:dk:

You knew it wouldn't take me long bud to add my two pennies worth.... LOL:rock:

I am so chuffed for you mate and feel your excitement. I also know that feeling all too well playing that waiting game and each day going twice as long as normal. As I said to you though it will well be worth the wait and when they day comes to pick her up you will have to let me know if you managed to get any sleep the night before....I couldn't it was a nightmare!

Yes make sure you get the free weeks insurance on MB which you will need the chassis number for. Just give them a ring when you do and tell them the day you are picking it up and they will do the rest. I ended up staying with them as they gave me such a good deal.

Lookign forward to seeing the photos and hopefully getting you to one of the AMG meets. Are you coming to the April's trackday? Keep us in the loop mate and I will help you count the days down.:thumb::thumb::thumb:

I'm coming over for both of Ricky's trackdays, yea. There's some other days on at Spa, Djon-Renois and Nordschleife that I've reserved some days off work for as well.

On that subject of my visits to the UK, I'm actually around and will even have the car freshly "gleammachine"d on the tenth of April, so if an AMG Bluewater meet happens to fall on that afternoon I'll be able to see you guys. Will be nice to put some faces to names before we all head down to Goodwood later that month:D
