New Citroen C5

I used to smoke around in a friends old CX in Dresden in 1995. The interior was starship enterprise bonkers.

What about this - seriously cool.

New C5 looks stylish to me. Used car bargain from 2009 onwards me thinks. Would I buy one - probably:o

Yes that's an SM. I can see what Chris means as wel - just 1 of those mental links one makes.

Love the CX. And XM. Citroen: just do it again!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have to agree with the pro Citroen comments here. This kind of design flare is much more interesting than a lot of Mer-bim-udi's. 'Lesser' manufacturers have made a significant and vital contribution to the evolution of the car as we know it now but they often get unfairly criticised based on either historic or recent misgivings.

So stop it you horrible lot!!! :) ;)

My missus had a Saxo XTR (before the boy racers got their hands on them) and it was fantastic. Much more fun at the legal limit than I can imagine any big fast German barge I've ever owned.

Ok it was bumpy and noisy but it had plenty of character and never let her down until someone decided to drive into it at 30mph while it was parked outside our house!!!

Ah, the Goddess.
I think it's gorgeous.
Especially the 'fruit gum' rear indicators in the roof.

My mother had a pallas some years ago, a huge big creamy gold thing. Automatic gearbox and a very good ride. The suspension used to make me giggle (I was ever so young then!) going up and down.

Love the old citroens - and no, not ugly.

Like the new C5 more and more I see it. Very BM from the rear, good lines and I do like those wheels in the trailer!

and don't forget the classic DS, the SM and the original traction-avant (Maigret car) from the thirties. Great cars of advanced engineering.
We had a couple of BX; superb ride, v.comfortable if a bit tinny.
A second hand C6 would be a great buy and a 'good ride' for a few years.
Was not the Citroen suspension system used by Bentley for a few years? Did I also hear that Airmatic is based on Citroen's ideas?

The Citroen SM is indeed a stunner, but the cabriolet is real top-shelf material.

Burt Reynolds drove one of these into a marina/dock in a film - was it The Whole Nine Yards - the mean machine american football movie?

Had Citroens, for my wife, for the last 12 years. 2 Xantias, which were brialliant cars, much under rated. Both did in excess of 150k, with no major work other than service items. She's just replaced the xantia with a C3, nice little car, but the electronics are proving to be troublesome.

Absolutely agree about the Xantia. had one on long term loan. Comfortable, quiet, easy to drive and a fantastically economical diesel.

Remember when you talk about French engineering you are talking about the people who can claim, as much as do Mercedes that they invented the car, that they invented the aeroplane; they have produced Arianne, the TGV, the Concorde (with us), possibly the best motorways in Europe (the péage versions). For years the car to own in Africa because it was rugged, reliable and long lasting was the Peugeot, whose latest TDi racer has shown Audi a thing or two, Renault have an excellent F1 pedigree and then there is Carla Bruni.

But they do have Melissa Theuriau
