Well the new E280 Cdi sport Estate arrived on Monday of Last week.It came to Glasgow from Lincolnshire on a transporter and arrived on time along with a Full tank of fuel and all concerned were very courteous.

I travelled on business this week and the car is so ,so comfortable, very powerfull though a little thirsty ,I am sure though this will improve.

I had a little problem with my Sony K700 i and the tel prep. The speed dial on the audio unit dont match my numbers.I went to mercedes Dundee and they were very helpful and we got some where with it,but needs further investigation.I have found these dealers both very helpful and the car build quality superb.Obviously things are changing.

Hi Barry,
Congratulations on the new car and join the club of satisfied customers.

I am looking forward to hearing your opinion on the new V6. Have you had any of the previous generation CDI engines and if so I look forward to hearing how they compare.

Happy motoring,

Regards,
John

I *think* I've seen a comment somewhere saying that the car recognises the memory position, so the first speed dial has to be in memory position no1, 2nd in no 2 etc. So if, for example the car dials Home when you press Office speed dial, then just swop the numbers around in the phone.

I was told it reads Sim card,so I have changed this but it read the sim card speed dials, which were numbers no longer used by me.I changed these but the cars speed dial memory seems to still read the old ones.I dont know how to clear these so it reads the new ones on the phone.

Thanks for That.
I have not had a Merc deisel before, but a BMW 320D.It is much quieter and smoother ,which you would expect from a 4 to 6cyl.Miss the 55mpg economy though, but again its Manual vs Auto.I just love the new car though.Seats are very comfy as is driving position.

parking aid

I must admit what a brilliant system both front and rear sensors are.Previously had only rears, but now I can park in the tightest of spaces which is brilliant with such a long car.

I'd be very interested to hear what MPG your getting once you've out a few thousand miles on her.

Enjoy the car!

Cheers
Rory

Ohhh , parktronik is like the best thing in the world .. i thought it was a load of rubbish and only took it when it was on the car .. but it rocks sooooo much ..

As the new 280 & 320 are both 3 litres, how different are the insurance quotes?

Congratulations :bannana:

Enjoy your new car :D

Agree. And you soon get to realise that when it's a solid beep, you've still got a little left for those really tight manoeuvres :D

I had a 280 CDi V6 as a loan car for a week recently, nice car and did go well for an oil burner but did it use some diesel!

I found the E280 cdi to be a bit of a dissapointment to be honest, just didn't seem to have any guts even though acceleration times are almost identical to mine. I liked the new E320 cdi but it certainly didn't feel any faster than mine. Mind you mine is run in so that makes a huge difference with diesels.

It's the refinement of these new engines that puts the old ones to shame, they are just sooo smooth and quiet.

Slightly different I know, but our old Sprinter had the 120hp 2.7ltr 5 cylinder engine and our new one has the 4 cylinder 130hp 2.2ltr.

My wife is always saying how the new one lacks the oomphh of the older model?

Wish I had bought the 160hp model now.

I look at the specs of the new E-class and wonder how these upgrades have actually improved the car?? Is the 3ltr V6 better than the old straight 6?

Or when you get a continuous beep with Red bars either side, a Jag just rammed into the back of you
Which happend to me about a month ago, but my baby is back to health...

Paul.

Don't the rear sensors only work when you engage reverse??

I have no idea, i drive the 3.2L straight 6 CDi and i really like it have to book for a test drive in the new 3L V6 one thing is for sure the V6 is smoother but would be intersting too see which one is better

Power wise I don't think theres much in it but the new one sounds a lot nicer on tickover. I opened the door of the test model I drove and gave it a little rev up and it was so smooth it could have almost been a V6 petrol model. Thats the only complaint I have with mine really, the noise.
