Wow! that is LOADED! Congratulations on your purchase, looks like you have a rare car indeed. Your going to love everything about it... Well maybe not the regular visits to BP/Shell! LOL.

I did not know AMG fitted LSD's to the 211 55's, do you think it was special order?? I know on the new cars, LSD is part of a performance package that costs as much as 8k depending on model..

Paul

Nice one.....seams that a bloody awfull dealer experience is getting way to common these days had the same with my last 2 cars! :wallbash:

But hey you got there in the end...put your foot down and it'll all be distant memories :thumb: enjoy

LSD was a factory optional extra, apparently took 4 weeks longer for the car to be delivered as it gets sent part constructed to another AMG plant for the Diff, then back to the main prod line to be completed.

had a look around on the net, not much out there on it, apparently a 30% diff. theres a little on mbworld abt it, but not much.

apparently a £3.5K extra (so the reciept says anyway!)

I really, really, really want a W211 AMG next year! They are getting down to the kind of money I could afford. Probably get myself a 54 plater done sensible miles around 60k. If anything I could use the excuse I need a more fuel efficent car than the 600 hence the purchase of the AMG....

Update, a few weeks into owning it and i had to go back to MK to have a Gearbox reset as the downshifts were really harsh.

Last weekend the engine management light came on :( took it into colchester MB they said it was the secondary air injection unit malfunctioning, not covered by the warranty and it needed replacing, they called MK MB for me and today i got a call saying MK MB have sent a trailer to take it back to MK to sort it out?

They refused colchester to do the work, even when they gave MB MK a much better price! can you believe that! colchester MB now loose out on the investigative time they have already put in, anyway... awaiting a call from MBMK as havent had any comms that they were taking my car!

so far out of the 900 odd miles ive done, 550 have been to MK MB and back regarding issues! All i must say on the plus side so far have been resolved.

Had a similar problem with my e350 down shift, eventually, they replaced the gearbox with new one under warranty.. lucky that!!!

It's a common fault, and so I can't believe it wasn't covered by warranty. Sounds like it's being fixed FOC though, but shame it has to iconvenience you.

Hi Alps,

Nice meeting you the other day.. the two cars looked nice together.:D

Do you have tier 1? I thing you may have 2 if they did not cover it..

Paul

surprising that MBUK want to fix itself instead of letting dealer handle it ..

is it more complex than it seems?

latest update, MK say they have sorted it, air injection relay being the cause. not the whole unit. surprised colchester mb wanted to charge for a whole new unit!

anyway, MK have assurred me that they will take care of anything that crops up, whch was nice of them! car comes back tommorrow!

It was the relay that was the recall item, however there seems to be a correlation between new relay being fitted and original pump going bump.
