New E55 AMG car purchase... finally!!!!

dropped the car off this morning, got a call a few hours later

1. SC pump - was replaced in sept before i got it so that was fine.
2. thud- apparently this is normal? also seen a thread on mbworld "body in the boot" , the us dealer changed whole suspension before realising all the airmatic e classes did this........ i guess i should have read this before !:wallbash:
3. Rear sub popping at high volumes - hasnt mentioned ths one yet, find out tommorrow when i pick it up.
4. comfort mode seat would not go back - again will find out tommorrow.

i also spoke to the previous owner who kindly gave me a copy of all the invoices from new, so now i know what the cars been through and had done!

Hi Alps,

Sometimes I get a thud noise if I quickly engage drive, mine is going in for a big service soon, I have nothing to report apart for that freakin noisy pano roof!!

do you not use the umbrella holder in the parcel shelf? PS.

Please don't sell your E55, the temptation is too much!

Didnt no there was one???? ..............will pop out and have a look! lol

Dont want to sell it really :(

p.s hang on do you mean putting it on the parcel shelf?! doh

There is a channel in the parcel shelf that the umbrella should just sit in, in my E280 CDI even the most spirited acceleration, cornering or stops refuses to budge it from there, pretty impressive really, but I imagine an E55 would probably be a different kettle of fish ;)

Thanks for that Lopez, been told its totally normal, picked the car up this morning, glad to get out of the diesel estate w211 i was given.

checked the reciepts from the prev owner and SC pump was changed together with trans fluid change in sept 09 and various v/poly belts. £2500 on last service!

feel a bit more at ease knowing whats been done and what might need doing (very little!)

Re movement of comfort seats.

Do they work if you push the electric adjustment switch?

If so, then has the seat been nudged back a touch from your normal position? If you sit a long way from the wheel, the seat won't move back even on comfort setting. Try sliding it forwards as far as your legs can stand and remove the key.

If not, is there anything on the track/rail? Coins can cause problems apparently.

I have the same problem Alps... and exactly what Bobby mentions below is how I found that I DONT have a problem......

it works if i move it forward but when i first got the car it moved back all the way, i did the reset thing via the cluster and since then not gone back as far!,

i found this on the US forums which i havent tried yet!

STEP 1. Menu.....key dependent must be OFF.
STEP 2. Exit the car lock the car.....If the windows are open or the roof is open keep you finger on key near the drivers side door handle this will
close windows and roof.
Step 3. Wait one minute then open the car (KEEP FINGER ON KEY TO OPEN ALL WINDOWS & SUNROOF.
Step 4. GO BACK TO STEP 2 (close all windows and sunroof by the key
method). |
Step 5. Unlock enter the car (leave all windows and sunroof in the closed
position. |
Step 6. (MOST IMPORTANT).......THE LIMITS ALL MUST BE RESET.......BY... moveing seat foreward to the end stop....then moving seat back to the end stop ( Do this several times as to re-sync the memory). This must be done
with all doors,windows,sunroof CLOSED. |
Step 7.Go into menu.......convienence ...set to steering & seat....them |
key dependment to ON you should now be able have different settings for |
each key.
IF YOU ARE A BIG GUY YOU MAY HAVE TO SIT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT AND LEAN OVER TO OPERATE THE SEAT MOVEMENT CONTROL AS NOT TO CRUSH YOURSELF AGAINST THE STEERING WHEEL.

this procedure may take several times to work and must be done if the battery as been disconected by any reason.
