New facelift E Class at dealership

I got a call from Mercedes North Wales to tell me they have a facelift E Class in now. I'm going down to see it this weekend. Anybody else see one in the metal as yet?

Yes and I've got to admit, rather begrudgingly, that it looks a lot better in the flesh than in a brochure.

But that's good, as we'll be driving them in the future.

I looked around our dealer a week ago, but none there at the time.

Mate,if you are popping over can you get loads of pics if possible

Thanks

I saw one 'round the back' of a dealership thanks to a friendly sales guy. Looked great even in just the standard SE trim on the E220. Stitching on the seats caught my eye for the right reasons and the dash looks far better than the current one IMO.

Looks great and a touch more youthful I think.

Saw one at Lakeside Mercedes last week - was in the area where deliveries get put:

Always the way on here. Its had alot of grief but a year from now loads of members will have them

I agree, and I was one of them.

I think the nostalgia towards the previous E-Class is simply down to the twin headlight front which set it apart from the rest of the range.

Still not keen on the interior as opposed to a W211 though!

It is so much better looking that the pre facelift which is a very tired design now.

To me it looks like an Insignia, not too keen on the new looks but over time it will probably grow on us.

still not keen. it looks fresh, yes, it looks new, yes, but the size of the star on the grill, to me, is vulgar.. for a mid saloon..and whilst i do like to stand out myself.. i rather it was in my own way (some of you agree with my taste, alot of you dont), not a big fat star on the front taken of an Actros front cab

one question, have the wash jets been discontinued, not one image shows the cut out for them..

I'd drive one definitely, but I'm singularly failing to get that excited about what is essentially a change of lights, bumper and grill! My previous W211 had a star grill when I bought it - the first thing I did when I got the car home was to take it off!!! Yes - we will be told that there are a zillion new parts, and we have the 'new' E-Class on the front of every magazine but to my mind, it's the marketing arm at work doing their job as they should do. IMHO still the exact same car that drives the same, handles the same etc.

Stopped off at Lookers in Eastbourne today. It was after 6 so showroom was shut. However right in the window was a Black Sport estate so I took a few phone photos. A few reflections from the showroom glass but looks good in the flesh to me.

the nose is Wayy too heavy for me..

and i dread to think how mangled the front lower lip spoiler will get after a few parking shunts... gonna start looking worse in time...

but the headlamps do work well... and the costly upgrade to xenon adaptive is what is needed as standard, as these are too similar to audi design, in terms of the rectangular bar at the bottom with the indiactor and side light...

it needs a proper grill...!!!

Said it before and I'll say it again, it looks like my Pre facelift w204 estate...only bigger.....!!

What have they done?

Compared to a 5 series or A6 that is not a pretty car, it'll probably grow on me though.

I must be getting old
