Hi, new here and needs loads of advice.

I've had a few new Mercs in the past, couple of AMG's, then deflect to another brand, and always seem to come back to Merc, and this time I'm staying.

I've bought a 2 year old petrol E-class, Obsidian with tan, very low milage as it was an embassy chauffeur car, but this has caused an unusual problem.

1. I need the steering wheel and gear lever either re trimming or re (painting?) and the chauffeur used black gloves and the black dye won't clean out of the tan leather. Any Ideas where I can go, I'm in North Bucks.

2. I need the chrome trim that goes in the front bumper around the corner as it's cracking and all I can find online is internet part finders which want to charge more for a second hand item than MB does for a new one, £145 for a small bit of trim.

3. I want to change the wheels to AMG VI's 18". I'm thinking about refurbished ones or dare I say it replicas, any advice. This is the first MB I've had which has not had sport suspension, because it's the first time I've bought a used car, so didn't have a choice. Now I consider myself more of a sport driver than an Elegance one, but now I can't believe how much better the ride is for only a slight reduction in handling, I'm now in a quandary because I don't like the wheels on it, but I think 18" AMG VI's might ruin the ride.

4. I'm considering leaving the Cats and silencers alone, but I'm thinking of removing the resonator and they sound so nice without them, anybody done this, if so, where can you get the link pipes from.

Do you guys organise any meets ?

Regards
Ringnut.

1. Would some leather cleaner not fix it.

2. If the newest and cheapest trim so happens to come from the dealer and you feel its a must have, then buy it.

3. I too would consider myself more enthusiastic. There will be a drop in ride quality, but IMHO its still rather good, even on 18 wheels.

4. Call olly at PCS in Horndean, he is rather well thought of on here. My gut is telling me you should do it, they sound too tame the MBs

Hi & welcome to the forum as far as the stain on the steering wheel other than leather cleaner (as has been mentioned)have you contacted any leather upholsterers to see if it can be re-dyed?With the alloys if you go bigger than standard the ride comfort will be affected somewhat unless it has airmatic suspension but if you really don't like the ones on the car why dont you see if you can get some 2nd hand originals you like & have them refurbed if need be?(imho don't get replicas).

Re the leather problem re-dying would probably be the way to go .

Either 'The Furniture Clinic' or 'Gliptone' should be able to help .

For the chrome bits , contact specialist Mercedes breakers like Mercman in Cornwall or Boss Parts in Leeds .

thanks everyone.

One other question, on a E-class, has anyone else had a stuck sun visor and been able to un stick it ?
