New Police weapon for speeders and other offences.

The one in Bagshot on the A322 just near the M3 intersection is one such camera!

And the one on the Hilton/Sainsburys crossroads, closer to Bracknell.

We live close to the new Coral Reef junction ... that would have been an obvious place to put some cameras as people go through the lights there all the time. But the worst is the Twin Bridges roundabout.

Yes, agreed - vehicles seem to have a very relaxed view of when a red light should actually make a difference! Often see two or three cars carry on through the junction after my light has turned green. Worse in rush hour, of course - when I'm heading into the office I'm usually through there by about 6.15am and there's not a lot around then, but its very different in the evening.

I'm not a huge fan of the new coral reef junction. With the filter lanes, it takes quite a while to cycle through the light changes, so I can see why drivers might choose to push it a little, despite the danger. I am also not keen on the "3 into 2" as you continue down the A322.

After driving into Central London last night I have seen cars crossing a red light at every junction. A pedestrian almost got run over a well

I was sat at a set of temporary 3 way traffic lights, we were sat there for along time, you could see when one of the other lights cahnged. One changed & to my amazement this Gonk behind me pulls out & overtakes me (i haven't moved) followed by gonk 2 . As I said its a 3 way set of lights & so these to brainacs met a stream of cars whose right of way it was, to left a long set of huge cement barriers all the way back to me & on the right a very steep embankment....Oh what a lovely row, lots of arm waving & shouts , all in the night time rain. I just turned around ,as I did I saw Gonk 1 & 2 reversing back along the narrow road swerving side to side, hotly pursued by around 8 cars who were not giving them much time lol...ah did I feel smug!!

I actually saw a car hit a pedestrian yesterday... :(

But yes, drivers do jump red lights down here in London.

There are so many red light cameras though?

Only on main roads. The majority of traffic lights in London have no camera. Local drivers know which ones to look out for (and if they don't, then Waze will tell them...).

Far fewer than speed cameras, IMO. Which seems a bit weird.
Agreed, speed cameras in dense traffic are silly, red light cameras are a better idea

In my experience the new camera setup on the A3 as you approach the hook underpass travelling North generates a ridiculous amount of revenue.

I have also seen a camera van under the bridge just around the bend catching those who speed up after the camera!

Anyone know how much these "super" cameras cost? i like to know what I am paying for.

This is where the "catch the real criminals" becomes relevant because violent crime is soaring across the country yet prosecutions are about doing 45 in a 40 mph road. This is money and resources that should be spent on elsewhere at this point in time.
Obviously speeding is dangerous but I believe our road network is already so tight we are in a gridlock.

Interesting statistic I heard last night : there are around 6000 sets of traffic lights in London , but only around 100 in all of the Scottish Highlands :-D

Bliss .

They keep introducing bigger and better cameras, usually trying to convince us that they are there to catch the evil, law breaking motorists.

Do people not realise that any camera can be turned to ant use? Any type of surveillance, any time? As far as I'm concerned it is just step by step into the world of Big Brrother.

Pontoneer... Bliss indeed. I drove up from Kent to Durness last Christmas. Was absolutely amazed, as the last 100 or so MILES had not 1 traffic light or roundabout (or camera!). Amazing road, single carriageway mainly, and what fun!

Who needs speed traps, when there idiots like this?

A driver has been arrested after speeding at 170mph and uploading the footage to Facebook.

Derbyshire Police spotted the video of an Audi S3 "screaming its guts out" on the A38, near Egginton, Derbyshire.

Its roads policing unit said "the temptation to show off got a little too much".

True but not for speeding unless it is proper equipment. In fact based on EU law, speed cameras in the city must be visible and drivers warned in advance with a sign. Police are only able to ambush you on the highway
