New Telematics update for W204, W212, W218, R172,

This months Star Diagnosis (March 2011) updates just popped through the door.

It contains Telematics (flash) updates for

W204 C, W207 / W212 E, W218 new CLS
W172 (new SLK), W204 MY2012

With the 204/212 updates it has CD and DVD versions (which I think means updates for more than just COMAND)

So if people still having issues with their W212 navigation systems, it may be worth a trip to the dealer

The disk is supplied with the monthly STAR updates. It is not available for lending or indeed use by the public. To apply the updates a STAR machine is needed aswell. I would suggest a trip to your local dealer.

My C220 W204 is going in tomorrow for a repair before my warranty expires in 3 weeks. Did anyone figure out what this Telematics update was and is it worth pushing to have it installed ?

It is only for cars with Comand and it updates the firmware of the Comand unit. Each new firmware has fixes for previous bugs and sometimes new features. Yes worth asking the dealer to update the system.

You don't live just around the corner either - definitely a trip to you LOCAL dealer is required. Can't see UK mapping being of much use to you. Or is there another reason why you require it?

There have been more Telematics updates since ...

It is quite rare that MB ever enhance the functionality of "non current" COMAND units with a firmware update. So I would be very surprised if firmware updates for supporting a new app would be available for anything except NTG2.5/NTG3.5/NTG4.5

It would actually surprise me if they were even available for NTG2.5 or 3.5 actually.

Remember, they want you to buy a new car
