Thats right its back on this time next week people. The following information was taken from Radio Times:

Top Gear Sunday 22 June
8:00pm - 9:00pm
BBC2
The very latest Top Gear news and views from the usual team. Jeremy, Richard and James apply their minds to the question of what the British police should drive. At the moment Bobbies are forced to drive around in diesel hatchbacks, gingerly shuffling the steering wheel and letting criminals get away rather than risk scuffing their wheel trims. So, armed with no more than 1000 pounds each, the Top Gear boys set out to buy a bargain priced police cruiser that can take part in a dramatic chase without fear of costing the tax payer a packet if it gets broken. Meanwhile, James introduces a new member of the Top Gear team and steps aside so they can immediately make their mark on the show with a remarkable feat of daring. And as if that wasn't enough, Jeremy tears up the Top Gear track in the new Ferrari 430 Scuderia, the car that aims to put some passion back into the Italian supercar maker's increasingly nerdy and computerised stable. Plus, there's a break from the norm as the Reasonably Priced Car welcomes a pair of stars in the contrasting shapes of the Friday Night Project's Alan Carr and Justin Lee Collins. All this, and some sound advice about how to deal with rising petrol prices. Top Gear is longer, stronger, faster, better and probably a bit more on fire than ever before.

Trailer can be veiwed and downloaded from here:

I wonder if it will have as little to do with real world motoring as the last series?

I certainly hope so, I like an hour of entertainment, if I wanted real world motoring I'd buy What Car magazine.

No reason is there why the BBC couldn't do a motoring programme for those of us who would like one -as well as Top Gear for those who like it?

Just reminds me of the good old days of 30 minutes on a Thursday evening with William Woollard, Noel Edmonds and a young whippersnapper called Clarkson who was rude about Vauxhall Vectra's. It died a death due to poor viewing figures.

Whilst the new program has the highest regular viewing figures on BBC2 by a country mile, and I'm reasonably sure is also their most successful export.

I guess what it really comes down to is enocomics, despite the unique way in which the BBC is funded.

It never bothers me that I know I'll never afford the cars they review, or if their news is ever relevant to anything whatsoever, I enjoy escaping for an hour, laughing my head off, dreaming of what I wish I could afford to drive!

Plus the ridiculous challanges have me in tears everytime - especially the long ones, like the Polar trip and Africa etc

It's like Mudster says, if we wanted down to Earth motoring news, we'd buy What Car magazine.

I agree! It's good, wholesome hearty fun. That episode they did when they went caravanning had me crying with laughter!!!

I'm a bit bothered by the suggestion that James 'steps aside'...

Two of the funniest episodes ever. I've watched both a few times.
