I know nothing about wheels, but now that one of my rears has split I need to find out! I have a 2004CLK, tyres are normally 225/45/17 front and 245/40/17 at the rear. So I know that the wheels are 17", (i say normally coz they are shod with slightly smaller winters at the moment). With spring coming I can go for a new set of wheels for summer use and then try and find a matching wheel for my split one (or can it be repaired safely) for my winters.

My dim question is; what wheels fit? I know nothing of offsets or sizes and the various technical issues, or whether I could/should change to 18s etc (and what the implications are). I'ma high mileage motorway user rather than sporty driver, does that make a difference?

I see someone is trying to sell some 18s down south and these would fit the bill if suitable, but are they?

As it says in the title some dim questions! Your help and advice much appreciated

If you're looking on eBay, look for wheels for a W209 (which is your model number) and they will definately fit.

Wheels from other models do fit the W209 CLK, but it can be a minefield, so I'd just stick to your own model.

Many thanks - so the 18" wheels will fit just as well as the 17"?
No reason why they shouldn't, although your cars suspension will be set up to take 17", so it could sit a little high.

Which model is your car, Sport, Avantgarde etc?

its a Mercedes-Benz CLK320 3.0TD

current wheels are as per this one on ebay

Gracie,
I have the same size 17s as you and have just bought a set of 18s this morning. I used the following guide -
Alloy Wheels Direct Ltd | Fitting Chart Index

It also has a useful guide showing the different styles that fit the 209.
I would stick with these as you know they will fit.
Good luck.
