I am getting the No TV message on the W203 (2001)

It has the TV tuner and all worked fine until the electrical maladies described in the thread http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=44052

It was at MB last week having a new OCP and seat controller, and they also left the Comand disconnected as requested by me. I have reconnected all over the last few days, and have just notice the No TV message.

I have checked the fuse etc, all OK, is it possible that they coded the TV to off with the Star?

Any ideas guys?

Thanks

Matt

It is not activated by star, one of the connectors has not been put back somewhere, if they have had the comand out it will be there, or the tuner is unpluged

Well that must be me then as I reconnected it, I will check again tomorrow for something missing. Is the TV connector on its own?

If I don't find it I will take pictures of the connectors on the back.

Check all the connections first its probably just a loose/unplugged connector

Yes the TV is on its own.

Danslk knows this better than me but there are 2 connections in the Comand from the TV,

Thanks all

I have been looking here

http://www.buellwinkle.com/Comand/COMANDWIS.pdf

And I can see that the C1 connector is the one that carries the TV signal, I have definitely plugged this in. I will check for a loose connection tomorrow.

Thanks again

From my playing around, the signal lead will not give that message but the power cable to the TV will

Thanks again Malcolm, so I should check the power to the TV tuner in the boot first you think?

I do not know where it is on you car, but I can check tomorrow, it will be CAN BUS activated.

Could you not ring the garage and ask what was disconnected, it could save a lot of searching

Misunderstanding I think, the tv tuner is in the boot, I know where dont worry.

You think i should check the connection there first before taking out the COMAND again?

As for MB, i don't trust them very much, they will be an all else fails option.

I will report back progress tomorrow.

Thanks again all.

Malcolm's retrofit doc should have everything on it but just a few things i can think of that spring to mind.

Check the tuner has power it will be getting it from the SAM.

Check the pins on C1 and C2 and on the connector at the tuner.

If we assume all the coding is good and so is the wiring harness then its either a damaged control unit or a bad connection inside the connectors.

Not 100% sure from memory at this time of night but the service menu should tell you if the tuner is set to present.

Thanks to your suggestions, I removed and replaced all of the connections checked the pins etc.

Did not find anything obvious, reassembled all, and now it works, bizarre!!!

Anyway thanks again for the advice.

Matt

This happens quite alot with me.

To solve it I find leaving the tuner unplugged for 10mins re-sets it.

Before I saw your answer I was going to suggest the c1 was loose. I would still guess that now.

Pleased it is solved, as the retro fit Analogue TV info has been dropped from the new MB info
