1994 S320 Limo
Firstly, hello :) I've been pointed here by someone at a bike forum I frequent, he said you'd be helpful ;D

Anyhoo, I have a most excellent '94 S320 Limo that I think is fantastic, the best car I have driven EVER, it's great. I just need to know about the accelerator pedal, there seems to be a dead spot for about an inch after the slack is taken up before the car actually starts to move, it's not cable slack because I adjusted that this afternoon, is it just a 320 quirk or is the TPS playing silly beggars? It also seems to be copying the Lexus LS400 in that half the instrument lights only work after an hour.

I can live with it, but it would be better if it was sorted.

Thank you. :)

Its diesel autos I'm afraid. Theres a slight delay whilst they think about taking off then they go. Same when you want to overtake, foot flat to the floor then....wait for it...wait for it.......GO!! Its something you have to live with, learn to anticipate and build it into your driving style, or, get a petrol. I find it most annoying on busy roundabouts :wallbash:. Welcome to the forum by the way :thumb:

Give your dashboard a tap when the lights go off - they might come back on again :-)

'94 S320 will be petrol not diesel I think.

Hi,

Mine is exactly the same and my Fathers '95 S320 was similar too :)

I do not suffer the way you do. When I say go, my car goes...instantly. If the lag is as bad as you say get it checked out.

Thank you, maybe it's wear or miles related. Anyhow, I tweaked the cable a bit more and it's much better, not gone, just better.

I'm going to sort this car out 100%, get LPG and keep it for a good while, it's lovely. New shocks all round, a couple of replaced plastic panels and a few bits and bobs and it'll be a keeper.

Thanks for the input, most appreciated.

You know what, I tried that and it worked! Thank you.

The dash will be coming out to replace the bulbs though, I can barely see the mileometer.
