Hi everyone

Thanks for voting on here and on the AMG PL site for the venue for our next MB Northern Meeting, everyone is welcome to come along.

The Yorkshire Air Museum at Elvington near York was the preferred venue beating the Waterwheel at Howden 7 to 3 and by 12 to 1 on the AMG PL. Sadly no one voted for Locomotion at Shildon County Durham :(.

The next job is to sort out when. Several people asked for Saturdays to be included. I’ve spoken with the museum staff and due to other events or group meetings already planned for August they have asked that we avoid certain dates.

I’ve created a poll with multiple choice options for the dates which are currently available. I’m only running this poll for 10 days so we can get a date fixed as soon as possible and people can get something in their diary if they can attend.

Happy Voting :)

Andy

You will be more than welcome, as we are very near to York there is plenty to do in the area. I’m hoping to plan a drive out over the North Yorkshire Moors which have some great roads and scenery :)

No problem. I’ll keep a note, if it ends up being that close I’ll take account that you wanted Sunday 26th :)

Any updates on this Andy, I guess you've been busy.

Hi folks

The good news is Saturday 18th August is the preferred date and plenty of parking is available at the Air Museum.

The not so good nes I saw that by the end of this week I will have swapped the C63 for a Golf R. Short story the C63 was starting to be like my Morgan, lots of polishing, goes out when it’s sunny and can’t carry a mountain bike. Whilst I love the car as my only set of wheels I decided it wasn’t practical and decided to buy something I’d always liked and got a PX I was happy with.

Now as some folk are particularly over where AMGs park being seen along side a Golf may be a bit too much to swallow. If you don’t mind sharing a car park with my R , and possibly some others, I’m happy to go ahead with pulling this together as I started it and don’t like not finishing something I’ve started ;)

If someone else wants to pull it together as a MB only event I’m happy to handover. I’ve made a provisional booking with the museum to be confirmed once numbers , if any, are clear.

Let me know your thoughts.

Andy :)

Shame about the car Andy but I understand the reasoning behind the change. A logical and sensible decision really, I could do with a couple of those myself at times. ;)

I don't think that anyone would object to you turning up in a Golf, let's face it we had a certain member from here in his Jag at the last one which didn't seem to bother anybody. Not only that, we gatecrashed a Mustang meet a few weeks ago...

I'm happy for you to carry on organising it, no complaints at all from here, and I'm sure most people will feel the same way.

Best of luck with whatever you decide.

Haven't read the whole thread.

Will you get to use the strip/track? I had a good laugh wellying my old S class down the bit where Hammond broke the jet car.

The pie is good in the cafe.

The boss lady is working that day, which means that I might have the day free to come along. - I'll have to see because it's quite a long drive from here.

Hi Dave

It wasn’t an easy decision to move on from the C63 and I doubt anything will surpass the AMG soundtrack. The one thing I will say is I have no regrets about buying the C63, I wish I could say that about every car I’ve owned.

I’m happy to continue with organising this meeting if people are happy to share some parking space with at least one Golf R, at the end of the day we are all car enthusiasts and as you say the Mustang guys were very welcoming.

Hi folk

So the date will be Saturday 18 August.

We need a minimum of 10 cars to be able to gain entry to the museum for a cost of £6 per car plus one passenger. Additional charges are £6 per person, £4 per child. The museum opens at 10.am but there is quite a long access road so if folk are there early it won’t be an issue. Once we have 10 names confirmed I will notify the museum we will definitely be attending.

I’ll start the ball rolling

1. Andy - Golf R (see previous posts to understand this one) :)
2.?

Hi Andy sorry to hear your decision but as per Dave I also understand and think sometimes it’d be nice to be sensible ! That said a Golf R is hardly slumming it!
Anyway hope we can meet up another time but as I’ve mentioned Saturdays are a no for me so I’ll have to pass in this, sorry . Good luck

Oh, you didn't mess around forming a new gang did you ? :D You've got VAG buddies already.

I'll be there mate.
You might as well pass on that Solarbeam AMG cap, you won't be needing that anymore.
