Golf R is a fine car. We are fortunate that with four drivers in the house we have four practical cars and the SLK. I use a boot mounted bike rack though and have no problems, but we do support a few bike events every year for which having our caddy (and the dobló before it) is handy.

No probs about you organising this or any future meets Andy.
That’s if your new car gang let you
You will always be The Northern Squadron Leader in my eyes.
Hope we don’t lose you from car meets as we are all petrol heads regardless of brand..

Hope you put your number plate over the bikes on that rig!

Thanks for your kind words. It will be interesting to see how things go if a few more R owners turn up. If everyone gets along I’d be happy to organise events “Up North” for both groups to attend. I will promise that we won’t park the Rs anywhere near the Es :D

Looking forward to catching up with everyone at Elvington ;)

Andy

Hi Andy sorry to hear your decision but as per Dave I also understand and think sometimes it’d be nice to be sensible ! That said a Golf R is hardly slumming it!
Anyway hope we can meet up another time but as I’ve mentioned Saturdays are a no for me so I’ll have to pass in this, sorry . Good luck

Hi.

Hope we do meet up again at some point. I’m hoping to get to the September Sports Cars In The Park in Leeds.

Andy

Oh, you didn't mess around forming a new gang did you ? :D You've got VAG buddies already.

I'll be there mate.
You might as well pass on that Solarbeam AMG cap, you won't be needing that anymore.

1. Andy - Golf R (see previous posts to understand this one) :)
2. Richy - W213 E63s

Cheers Ritchy

I’m hanging onto my Solarbeam AMG hat , you never know I might need it at some point down the road. :D

It's a pity you've had to change but so it is, hey; you might win the national lottery and get her back? I'm looking forward to Elvington and meeting you and others for the first time, keep going and stay lucky!

Hi

Thanks. Not an easy decision to make. Looking forward to meeting up at Elvington.

Andy

I think that Steve and myself have booked a hotel for the Saturday. In Wakefield again. :D

This means a nice chilled out day (Elvington under two hours from me) with no rush to get home, as long as we're in a bar (any bar) by late afternoon we're happy.

See you all there. I'll possibly be in the Cosworth, probably the E Class as it's going to be weather dependent. Rashman taught me well. :)

ETA: Is there a breakfast involved?

Hi Dave

The museum opens at 10am. I don’t think they do breakfast but I think they do snacks until 12 when the lunch menu starts.

Andy

Conversely, it's over two hours from me and I need to get my wife to work for 8:00... so a 10:00 start would mean that I can make it.

Apologies to The Northern Squadron Leader. I'm not try to step on your toes, but I know you will be busy talking about Beatles and falsifying emissions data. :p

Anymore for the list, I see a few have hinted on joining but haven't made the commitment yet.

1. Andy - Golf R (see previous posts to understand this one) :)
2. Richy - W213 E63s
3. Dave - Weather dependant but an AMG or a Cosworth
4. Lee - E55
5. Timskemp - SLK or E class. Or maybe a VW caddy so I can fit my bike in.

Hmmm... Just checking dates, this could be the first outing with the wheels refurbed and a few minor styling mods...

7. Steve - SLS
8. Jon-Paul - Golf R
9. Paul - A45

My take on this ^ :D

Hi everyone

A few people who are traveling some distance have asked about food. The cafe will be open from 10 am but they don’t offer a full breakfast. I’ve been told that they offer bacon or sausage sandwich, tea coffee etc until 12 noon when the lunch menu is available.

Andy

A large and freshly baked bread bun, a discrete layer of Lurpac, two large slices of best bacon + a slice of black pudding topped with a free range egg? The golden yoke mixing with the brown sauce and a cup of tea steaming, the panorama of Mercedes-Benz glinting in the morning sunshine!
Mmmm
Great info again Andy

Well, if you're offering I won't say "no"... :D
