Official parts catalogue access?

Does the Mercedes-Benz Club members access the same site as Daimler AG - Service & Parts? I signed up with the latter, but had to cancel it as it doesn't work on Mac or Linux :(
Don't think so as access to certain modules such as ASRA and SSL are disabled in the club version but the EPC and WIS accessible parts would use the same official software almost certainly so probably have the same problem--don't know:dk: The club portal does seem to be "browser sensitive" but why not email the Mercedes-Benz club with your question. I assume you are trying to access the site from the UK?

WIS is not the easiest to navigate... I find it extremely difficult... and when using it off the club site it takes me umpteen attempts to get it to open up in english.

It does however momentarilly stun the parts people when you are able to pinpoint exactly the part you need turning the filters on and off :)

HOWEVER :thumb: This is still the best and widest read forum I reckon !:thumb:

Even as a Mercedes-Benz Club member and regular visitor to the Club forum, I'd have to agree with that. The Club forum is definitely an under-used asset (although still very useful at times), but in fairness it's just one small part of the Club's overall package.

I believe so. If that's the issue with Java 6 failing with an "incompatible operating system" message, I found that I could make it work in a Windows XP VM under VirtualBox on Linux.

Thanks. Yes, I thought of that, but my WinXP virtual machine is only there to run CorelDRAW, I've disabled any networking capability (apart from exchange folder) - it certainly doesn't have internet access, and I am reluctant to grant it one ... Setting up a separate XP vm seems a bit excessive (certainly do not want to pay for another M$ licence), but if all else fails, I guess I would have to.

Yes the official MB club is superb. the web forum leaves a lot to be desired though unfortunately and i feel they are missing a trick in this area.

as stated by others above the annual membership fee will pay for itself in:

- epc/wis access (15 euros saved per year for EPC)
- Gazette every month (no need to buy Merc Enthusiast anymore! - £5 odd saved every month!)
- 10%+ parts discount at MB (££'s saved, although i feel you could probably negotiate the discount anyway)
- access to support/help on specific models - never used this myself but no doubt worth it.
- lots of events to attend if desired.

Thanks, will check it up with the club. Yes, I'm in the UK

Since I use PPC Macs ( G5 and PB G4 ) , I also have this problem .

I can get so far into EPC but then no further .

Well the papers arrived from the Club, so I'll be trying the access soon, will report here...

the Club-accessed WIS interface seems to come up in a random language (I'm guessing one shared setting across all members) and the documents you get from it are only in German.

I've since found the bolded bit my previous statement to be untrue. There's a setting for document language that is in two parts: three prioritized choices and a pair of language lists. You need to select the list that includes "en" as well as choosing "English" in the box above.

I've since also made it work under Linux / Wine by installing the Windows version of Sun Java 6 and using that to open the startapp.jnlp file, which can be saved to your machine with a Linux-native browser.
