paint work

So car has still not been done. Had to get on the phone to customer service... which soon as I did I started to get answers. Should find out Monday when it's getting done thank God.

You are going to be waiting a while bud, mine is also in for the "micro blistering" I had to wait two weeks for the approval from MB UK, then it takes around 4-5 weeks for the work to be completed. Just keep calling them on a weekly basis for an update.

All models with the fire opal paint suffer this up to 2014.

I am in the same boat, I have a c350 sport in red with micro blistering on the roof, bonnet and tops of the door frames.
The service rep asked if I'm sure they are not stone chips...
Mine is booked in for inspection next Saturday.

It seems to be a very common fault on Fire Opal cars- search this forum and look how many cars have been affected. MB UK are fully aware of the problem as are all dealers. DONT let them fob you off or tell you any different. Be aware also that some cars have been resprayed several times simply because the body shop wont do a proper job. The only proper solution seems to be a full bare metal respray. Be prepared to stand your ground in this respect!

I started this whole thing back end of October start of November. According to the bloke who is dealing with mine now ' the wheels have some how fell off at MB'S end' now he said he's personally dealing with my case I should have an answer Monday. They tired tell me it was tree pollen but I valet cars and I had an argument with one of them in the car park about ended up working on the car in car park to prove it wasn't. The car is in for a full respray part from the front and back bumper. God knows why. Just keep pushing them!!!

I think it depends on which dealer you go to. My dealer was more than helpful and was assessed and booked into a Bodyshop within a 2 week window. Car goes in on Wednesday for no more than 3 weeks. Full respect apart from the bumpers. Again, don't know why. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Once at the bodyshop they could take their time actually starting the work so just play ball from the start and say you need it done asap.

Good luck Saddy. I'm in exactly the same situation, waiting for them to get back to me about a respray.

They won't do the bumpers because to them bumpers are a trim not bodywork

Glad to hear. My car is back now. Looking like new. Fingers crossed it stays like this!!

It was painted by a robot in the factory, and will be painted by a person now.

I'm assuming it'll be fixed, as they must know the issue. Even if not, I'm not bothered that much as my issue didn't manifest itself until the car was around 6 years old. I've had it two years nearly, so it's about 8 years old. I'll keep it another year or two, so it's the best kind of problem if it doesn't last.

Fingers crossed though. The robots were given one instruction and so make the mistake (whether it was technique or chemicals in the paint used) on many cars. The guys in the bodyshop know what they're doing so expecting good results.

Well car went in Tuesday thank God. But they have give me a Nissan Note 1.2 I officially hate driving. Surely they should of gave me another MB. Not ****d if it was 1.8 just not a Nissan!

Stick with the note, I've had had the headlights fail, the number plate fall off and the parking sensors stick on my courtesy 15 plate MB car.

Looking at getting the car back this week can't wait 4 weeks in that Nissan has been horrid. Will give and update when I get it back
