Hi All
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated..
I spent the afternoon installing the MKi9100 kit to my SLK which has an Audio 20 stereo, the job was straight forward enough.
Halfords recommended an Autoleads SOT-976 (item code 149289) the 12v battery and GND needed to be changed around on the Autoleads harness to power up the Parrot, but I was checking all the voltages were in the right place before plugging it in with the multimeter, and snipped and changed over the leads.
I finished wiring it up and it powers up with the ignition and gives the "goodbye" message when the ignition is powered off, so it powered ok.
I picked up the mute wire which was the yellow (pin 5) of the white connector in the FAKRO connector.
Phone syncs nicely and call quality is pretty good, but the call only comes through the centre dash speaker - not a big deal for calls though!
But when I try to play music from the iPod/Aux inputs of the Parrot it only plays through the centre speaker. Did halfords sell me the wrong lead to properly integrate the MKi9100?
I know the music can come through all the speakers, I just dont know how....I would really appreciate any feedback from the experts on how to overcome this

Thanks for that, the fact the battery and gnd needed to be swapped around I kinda guessed I had the wrong harness, I'll order the new harness and give it a go.

Hi! Same thing happend to me last week.. How did you solve this issue??
Thanks.

Hey did anyone solve this? I am having the same issue?

It looks like the parrot audio is only coming through the center speaker...are the other amp'd or something? I have the standard Audio 20 unit.

Hi, has anyone found a solution to this?
I also had this same system fitted with the SOT-976 from autoleads, and the sound is only coming through from the front central speaker...
Is this definitely an issue with the cable not being the correct one?
Thanks

976 is very much the wrong lead, all the wiring on W211/W219/R171 (E/CLS/SLK) for the NTG1 system that you have is wrong.

I think you need SOT097

Richard

Thanks for your quick reply Richard

So just to confirm, I have a NTG1 Audio 20 CD so therefore I will need the SOT-097?

Therefore is the autoloeads website wrong, because the product finder feature gets me to here: Autoleads : SOT Lead for MERCEDES SLK (2004-Current) Audio 20 - advertising the SOT-976 for Audio 20 NTG2, rather than pointing to this: Autoleads : SOT Lead for MERCEDES SLK (2004-Current) Audio 10 - which is advertised for NTG1 but for Audio 10, rather than 20...

Thanks again for your help!!

NTG2 and NTG1 are wired completely different. There was never an Audio-10 in a 2004-"current" SLK

Merc garages can't get this stuff right, so don't be surpised by a wealth of misinformation.

Assuming your head unit is in a SLK R171 and is the non-navigation unit with a CD player built in, yes you have a NTG1 Audio-20 CD.

These NTG1 Audio-20 CD were only fitted to SLK, E, CLS up until the end of MY2008 when it switched to NTG2.5 - completely different wiring (much more like NTG2)

I beleive the SOT-097 is correct, but i've never bought one to check .. The Autoleads description mentions SLK,E,CLS which makes sense - just the Audio-10 bit looks wrong.

Richard

Why don't you just buy the lead directly from Parrot? At least you know you will get the right one instead of faffing around at Halfords!

I wish I had done that on retrospect!!

I bought the Parrot kit from Halfords and they booked me the install with HPC aka wecanfit.co.uk who did the install at my work. However halfords gave me the SOT-976 cable but HPC fitted it anyway!

I called up HPC office the next day to ask why the sound was only coming through the central speaker. After placing me on hold (and apparently speaking to the engineer), I was told that the engineer knew it was the wrong lead but fitted it anyway without telling me, as apparently they wouldn't supply the leads as it was a halfords referral.

Anway HPC don't want anything to do with me and will only come out if Halfords issue me with a new job number. However now I'm trying to convince halfords they gave me the wrong cable and to liaise directly with HPC rather than me calling everyone up! Halfords are following the info from Autoleads and I'm trying to tell them that the Autoloads info is obviously wrong!!

A right mess!

Parrot leads

Hi there . I had the same problem , I got a lead from these guys and sorted it out ! They have every type of lead you might need . I also installed the Parrot "Unika" module which gives you steering wheel controls for the phone , it's great ! Check out MusiConnect on eBay .

Hi all

Halfords swapped the SOT-976 with a SOT-097 and everything works well now!! So thanks to Richard and everyone else here!!

@curro101 - I'll definitely look into to the Unika, looks like the final piece to this puzzle :)
