hi

apart from Eurocarparts and Merc, does anyone know of a supplier of pattern body parts for mercs, ideally R107.

i need a couple of things and thought i'd check the pattern ones before going to Merc. I'm aware of the difficulties fitting pattern parts etc but not worried about that, just trying to save money here and there on the restoration.

thanks

derek

What parts do you need?

They're not a fortune from MB, and I don't think anyone does replicas.

This may be the limit of replica parts for 107 now:

C6611 front wing left repro 260,00

C6612 front wing right repro 260,00

C6605 repair panel wheel arch left SL
can be used for SLC too 50,00

C6606 repair panel wheel arch right SL
can be used for SLC too 50,00

C6607 repair panel rear wing SLC left
between door and wheel arch 62,50

C6608 repair panel rear wing SLC right
between door and wheel arch 62,50

(don't be tempted by copy wings)

i think it will total out around £150 from a MB dealer for these bits. Obviously the cheaper i can get them the better and they are under the bumper so pattern parts would be fine..... but as you say probably not made.

i could probably get away with keeping my existing centre bit, but the side bits, especially the drivers side is dead.

The side bits are £54? and the centre £60odd?

Trouble is all 107 end up needing them, so it's not easy finding them.

Plus they're not expensive enough to justify someone making replicas (would be expensive to tool up)....

do you mean MB dealer may not have them anymore?

i think i will probably buy new ones. i will ensure that they are still available and have them "in my hands" before i start dismantling and removing the existing ones as i suspect they will fall apart upon trying to remove

the wheel arches seem OK; especially inside. The rest of the rust can probably be repaired, but of course who knows until you start to dig deeper than the surface.

MB will have them, and will do for sometime to come.

What I was trying to say is that there's not enough demand for them for it to be worth someone's while making replicas, given the cost of tooling etc.

You may find that the inner bumper frames have rotted away too...

yeah the inner bumper parts look pretty bad too.

i've been looking at these (well the remains of them on the side area) and i reckon a very similar bit of steel can be purchased from B&Q and cut to fit for about £7.

the centre strip doesnt look too bad at all really and probably doesnt need replacing, but i will rub it all down and treat it. It will need to be fully rubbed down well so the new parts will join it well.

looks like i may get away with new side parts and new home-brew inner brackets.

the main bodywork behind all this appears sound which is good.

The side bits look like they have been bodged back on before with some type of glue.

Basically all that was holding on the drivers side panel was the rubber strip lol
