PayPal Question

be careful i sent a car dvd player 2 a guy and paypal said payment pending until delivery so i posted it then the guy said he never recived it and got his money bk. i got no help from paypal even tho i had the tracking number and i had filed 4 cases against him but stil lost now im 100 down and no dvd

never heard of that....... is that one of the new policies that they bought in? i know on certain items listed in categories, paypal keep hold of the money until its posted - i think. dont know for sure as i dont sell in those categories ;)

are you sure it was pending because they paid via "e-cheque"??

no its the new thing they have brought in. it says money pending so paypal holds onto the money until the other person says the item has arrived. but its a silly new system becuase it is too easy to say it never arrived and even with recoreded delivery ref they wouldnt sort it out i even faxed a letter from the royal mail saying it had been deliverd!
by the way have you ever spoken to paypal customer service ? trust me ther is no point!

I do agree with everyone that PayPal can be a pain in the backside, but just to put it into perspective and ease some worries....

You have to remember that 99% of ebayers are genuine people and the vast majority of transactions go without a hitch.

We've sent litterally thousands of items sold via ebay the last couple of years and have probably only had only about 10-20 or so items that have not arrived (which we've refunded and generally been able to claim back from Royal Mail), and only perhaps 1 that we've had any sort of wrangle with.

To be honest I have far more trouble with buying stuff from others that's either not right or doesn't arrive. Unless you are unlucky, as long as your honest and deal with communication and posting helpfully and promptly selling is generally pretty safe.

;)

yeah i agree Mr Jadefox - 99% of my ebay sales go through without hassle.

We sell things (nothing to do with ebay) and try to get everyone to use Google Checkout instead of PayPal (we do offer PayPal too though, everyone expects it): cheaper, easier to use and you get your money much quicker. Gets my vote everytime.

Paypal payment for anything is always posted with proof of posting from us - you NEVER allow collections if paid by paypal as its simple to chargeback.

Track it and be happy

Its simple

when funds are received in your paypal account, it is as good as your own, the 5 day transfer acts as if u transfer between a natwest account and hsbc account.

ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS post with registered or recorded royal mail.

this was you are covered. If item gets lost, claim the insurance. If the buyer recieves item, but causes a problem, you have proof.

claw backs occur, but this is only when u have sent something with out proof and nothing to show..

track it and its sorted!

not really. just because its in your paypal account doesnt mean it will stay there - paypal can take it back from you at any opportunity, causing major headache to get it back - even if you do have a tracking number talking to paypal and dealing with the "prooving of your postage" can be a lengthly process. see previous posts

This is only true if the complaint is taken through the Paypal dispute console.

If the buyer simply calls his card company to process a chargeback, paypal will not defend it, even with tracking numbers and signed proof of delivery.it's just the way they work.
