Performance Diesels

Its all coming back to me:rolleyes: i remember one tuner telling me he would only do a stage one tune on the autos as they would destroy the auto box, same box as the v8 petrol but but the tuned diesel was producing a lot more torque:) .
Not sure what the max torque rating is on yours?

I have measured egt, a lot.

In long, full throttle acceleration egt rises easily to 850-degree-level
Stock engine.

With chipituning , or tuningbox easily over 900 to -> 1000.
Charger stands that, but not for a long periods.

There are two ways to get more power from stock engines, (by remapping or tuning-box).
Rise the rail-pressure, or let the injectors spray longer.

Longer spray means automatically higher exhaust manifold pressure and higher exhaust gas temperature, if no parts changed.
You can live with that, if owner has even little sense.

Rail-pressure increasing includes a big risk to break something and very expensively.
I don´t recommend that.

I take it you are talking centigrade, if so has your EGT gauge been calibrated.? It's just that the standard turbo is rated to 780c, so the fuelling is set accordingly so shouldn't be producing temperatures of 850c.

He is talking about permanent stress.
I am talking about peaks.

I have measured it many many times, you can count on it.
