What is the point of slagging off another member though for selling a car at a price he feels fit to sell it for - that is his business and it's not as if he is trying to rip anyone off, the car seems fairly advertised. That is not the spirit of the forum and i'm sorry but this feels like it's turning into the BMW M3 forum where everyone bangs on about prices until it comes to their own car and they think its worth fortunes...i agree, anyone can ask any amount for a car, likewise anyone can comment on any car for sale,
the Uk is a free and democratic place (well sort of) and just like the chap selling the car who is free to ask what he wants, we are free to discuss it,
cars are like many other things in life that people trade,
someone sells something and someone buys it , its only worth what someone is willing to pay for it,
my opinion is that if someone is willing to pay 10k for a non uk spec 210 e55 thats their choice, however, in my mind that would be a bad choice and he would be wasting his money as he could get a better car for the same money,
i also get that some people dont want a better car, again its their choice
this is a forum, a forum where people come together to discuss Mercs, be it work they are doing, work they are thinking of doing or maybe even a car they are thinking about buying!!! everyone has an opinion and thats how it should be
So what car can you get which is 'better' for £10k? How do you define 'better'? Everything is personal when it comes to cars and there is probably someone out there looking for this exact type of car and for £10k having a rust free machine like the E55 with super low miles might not be a bad idea for them (to someone who really wants one). As it's probably been said, try and find another one - these types of cars end up in hands of specialist dealers at silly prices, in my view £10k seems reasonable. How much does a 'good' E55 W210 fetch for these days? I've seen some up for around the £7k mark at times and thats without having a proper look at it under the skin.
Why does it really matter that its a non UK car? Some UK cars are really rusty underneath even if they look mint on the outside which makes them less desirable to me as an owner. Cars from Japan are normally clean underneath as they don't use salt on the roads and have high taxes for big engined cars - so they're normally in mint condition and maintained by wealthy owners who can afford to keep them on the road. This is favourable, especially for enthusiasts wanting to buy and enjoy older MBs where they put effort into the mechanics (fantastic 5.4L V8) but skimped on the bodywork, mostly apparent on almost all UK W210s where you see rust!
