Hi all

I have a 2008 c220 cdi estate S204 with built in sat nav, I am thinking of getting the new sat nav disc, does anyone know if the new disc version 10, will allow input of all the postcode charrictors?
currently I can only put in 5 digits. also I find the maps are now out of date, and quite often it thinks I am driving "off road"
thanks Ken

Went through this last April after I bought my 2008 S204 with Comand. We have NTG4 which only allows 5 digit postcode entry. Update to NTG4.5 is possible with an extremely large BUT - it involves not just a replacement Comand unit but also a replacement dashboard (info from Alfie of Comandonline, thus accepted as gospel!).

I've found entering destination by full address or via map is OK, just takes a little longer than 7 digit postcode - you get used to it pretty quickly!

Map update DVD's are available, but you have to be careful to buy only genuine MB discs (many horror stories of people buying cheapie copies off eBay and the like and completely wrecking their Comand - expensive!). Also have to ensure you buy the one for your system - as there are update discs for NTG2, NTG4, NTG4.5 etc. They are not cheap - a kosher one from comandonline will be about £250, which is a typical MB ripoff. Often offered "used once" on eBay for lots less, but I have not seen any reports where people have bought one and installed the update so do not know how successful second use of a genuine disc is.

Just realised - you just said 2with satnav" - which I suspect means you could have Audio 50 rather than Comand - I think what I've said will still apply, but your best bet is to contact comandonline (Alfie on here) and ask them.

One other thing I keep meaning to check - aparently in the "Engineers Menu" there is a way to find out exactly what map etc version is currently installed - but not knowing what you're doing while messing in the engineers menu can cause big problems, so I am waiting for my next visit to MB Ashford to get them to look - may find the most up-to-date version is already installed!

thanks chris
I have checked and I have the NTG4 command.
I have seen that german dealers are selling the UK update map disc for about £130.00 I thought this might up date the system as well as the maps, but I think I was mistaken. I need to look into it a bit more before I decide what to do.

Keep me informed!! I know the maps in mine are out of date - does not know of a number of new roads and roundabouts that I'm sure Teleatlas has mapped - so if you find a cheap way to update yours I'll be interested!!

I have a 2008 C320CDi so have the same Comand.

I bought a genuine MB update DVD (2 discs) from ebay for £67, think it was V10, the one released in May 2012. Took just over 2 hours to update.

I then put them back on ebay and got £58 for them, so my update cost £9.00 which I think was good value.

The discs I bought were used by the seller once and I used them for the second time as once the Comand is updated you don't need the discs anymore.

As Chris says- only use proper oiginal MB discs.
