My CL has the very handy boot closing button which has suddenly stopped functioning. It was fine until I disconnected the battery to change over the steering wheel. Is there some sort of reset I need to go through or could it be a fuse ?

Everything else works fine after reconnecting the battery.

Cheers

God only knows why disconnecting the battery is necessary in order to undo one bolt on the car and two airbag screws.

This malady of randomly disconnecting the battery is the equivalent of letting Stevie Wonder give driving lessons.

Take it to a benz dealer and get them to reset the hydraulic pump.

All the threads I've read about removing a steering wheel say that you should disconnect the battery and leave the airbag connected for another 30 mins as there's still charge in the air bag circuit.

Not an airbags whizz, but certainly wouldn't want it going off on me

I have always just switched ign of keys in pocket, 30 mins for capacitors to discharge and disconnect air bags never had any problems.

How is the new Wheel ?

When the bodyshop disconneted the battery as the car was non movable for 2months ... all the electrics ie ... windows, sunroof, seats the automatic functions were not working...
I needed to work them one or two times from one end to the other end and then they worked fine...
I assume it needs to reset the limits.
Mine does not have the automatic boot close, but it might be the same scenario.

cheers
