can anyone let me know if i can fit a facelift bonnet to this car and what parts i would need? ie bonnet lights grill etc and has anyone got the parts i could purchase, thanks.

For a facelift look you will need the following:

Facelift bonnet with grill
Facelift front lights
Facelift front indicators
Facelift rear lights
Rear bootlid filler panel

All the above can be easily fitted to your car without major modification.

Depending on how early your 230 coupe is and its colour you may also require the body coloured body mouldings and colour coded bumpers to get the full facelift effect. Otherwise you end up with a car that has a "half n half" look. Your choice but originality is everything in keeping a good coupes value.

Nick is correct there, you do not need to change the whole headlamp, just the glass lenses.

Not sure why people do this, even the newest E series C124s are from 1996 - its not like the face lift leaps the car forward a generation.

I'd leave the car original and spend the money keeping it in tip top condition.

Personally I quite like the original style 124 - which is fortunate... ;)

why

Hi,the whole reason i want to do this is because the mercedes star is fixed through the bonnet on the facelift model and not the grill and i can replace this with a flat badge conversion as my star has been broken off many times,
i know it seems a lot of hassle but the car is due a total respray and i might as well do the mods now also i think the facelift grill looks better?

I had a preface lift chrome grill surround that has a flat badge on the top. I wanted a star, so I converted it back to the original by fitting a new surround and grill. The original grill had the big star in the middle. It really did not suit the car.

I have no idea where the flat badge grill came from, but it would be a lot cheaper than getting a new bonnet etc.
