And for those of us whose first language is English?

Even his Latin quote at the end is misspelled :wallbash:

Akash
Whats your problem with the car?
At no point does it say the aircon works and at no point does it say it has a bose hifi.

If I were you i'd safe myself the hassle and inconvinience and stop being so tight and pay the £1500 or whatever to get all the niggles sorted.

If you go down the court route it will give you 12 months of grief and spoil the whole experience of the car.

Chalk it down to one of life's experiences and if you look after it you will probably recoup your losses come sale time.

Good luck whatever you decide.
Bit harsh, don't think it's a question of being tight, more so a lot more being wrong than suggested.

It not the case of every buyer thinking they are an ace mechanic...more so an annoyance at dealers not being honest. State the problems, that'd make things easier.

How many times have people gone and seen a car with "good" bodywork only to find it dented and rusted, but oh it's 8 years old so that's to be expected? Rubbish. That's mis-decription, but it seems as is the second hand car industry gets away with this all the time.

If you think you can prove the dealer was wrong in what he did, with regard to the law, then claim against him - and I do hope you win.

I don't think Akash is out to try to screw the dealer for everything he can get : he has already said he was aware of the tyres and bodywork issues and has no intention of pursuing the dealer for these items .

That the air-con was not operating may not have been apparent from two viewings ( the first one may have just been a viewing - without getting into or starting the car ; we don;t know how extensive the second was - some 'test drives' are little more than a 'run round the block' and there are more important things to check on than air-con ) .

From where I stand £10K is a lot of money for a car , and I would expect everything to work at that price , unless otherwise stated in advance . It is far from entry level pricing for a R129 - I've seen many at £3k and below ; there was one on eBay today at £2K . At £2K or £3K , I could accept things not working/needing fixed , but at a price level for which you could otherwise buy a new car ( albeit something fairly basic ) , I'd expect a reasonably nice example .

We don't know whether or not Akash is going to try to seek any redress from the dealer .

My feeling is that he was just trying to find out where he stands ( and probably now wishes he hadn't asked ) :dk:

for what its worth

If you look at the pics of the silver arrow, and then look at the current stock of courtyard cars especially the jaguar currently advertised, the background is the same in that the wall and building behind are the same.

To me the wording of the advert is that of a trader, and the photo's similar to those of his stock. It looks with only a few cars for sale, he's a part time trader.
If he gave you a receipt with a company name on it instead of a standard home written receipt, then i would guess its a trade sale.

As already recommended i would contact trading standards in that area, who knows he may already be known to them. I would certainly also be opening a case with E Bay.

If he is a trader he should behave as one and provide the cover you are entitled to. If he proves its a private sale, then so be it.
