Project C43 W202

The quality of work is 2nd to none to be honest, the price not so :(. It will definitely be worth it in the end, well that what I keep telling myself anyway :D

It will definitely be making appearances at the meets, thats for sure. May not be packed with the tech & performance of the beauties such as your own, but will hold it's own even just for the shiny shiny paintwork if nothing else :)

Quality rarely comes cheap Abb , you being happy with it is the most important thing. I gladly accept your challenge to a “Shine off” , I’ll see you at Shildon , name the date :D

It wasn't a challenge, I am not that silly! :p You win;)

With all that nice new shiny black paint I would be up against it with Polar White so not a forgone conclusion ;) Will be great to see it when it’s finished, I know some one in North Yorkshire with a C36 so will see if we can get them to come along too when we organise something :thumb:

I have just read through this entire thread, amazing work and dedication so far.

The cost is irrelevant if you're going to enjoy the car for many years! Great work, very impressive! Can't wait to see the final product :)

A fascinating endeavour;
I've been through this twice on E Types, never considered a C Class though!!

Best of luck in your chosen labour of love, it's an epic feeling once done and driven.

The rear door glass is all in and operational with the exception of a sticky switch for the one touch operation on one of the door windows. The front top panel (apologies but not sure what the technical term is) is back from being blasted and treated, now painted up and fitted complete with new bonnet shut installed.

Front doors, bonnet, wings and side skirts currently in spray booth being finished off and then to be re assembled onto the vehicle. Looks like I need new door/sill tread plates as the current ones have the metallic strips de-laminating from the plastic part.

As well as new plastic trims being fitted to the bottom of the wings where it meets the sill either side, new rubbers which fit to the bottom of the doors, new clips for all the fixings for the side skirts and body mouldings!

The door handles will not be kept as OEM, but will be colour coded for a neater finish.

Some more pics, boring as they may be, they are a must! :D

Abb,
Looking good :thumb:, are the wheels staying as they are or do you have something planned?

Andy

Cheers Andy. The wheels.......I am fitting some 22" chrome spinners on! :D

On a serious note, I will be fitting some OEM staggered AMG monoblocks on, the same as what it's currently wearing but in 18", fully refurbed in silver with the diamond cut/polished lip. They are wrapped in rubber and ready to go! :)

I agree with the above - the 18’s fill the arches so much better but, to say it’s only an inch difference, they do make the car a lot stiffer relatively speaking.

Looking good though pal - can’t wait to see it done!

Thank you gents re the heads up on the difference of ride with the 18's. Everything I have read highlighted this issue, however as this will not be my daily, I guess I will live with it. Worst case scenario, if I can't, I will revert back to the originals!

I think it will be worth it, for the looks alone ;)

The colour coded door handles should have been included as standard. The first mod to every 202 I've ever owned is to CC the handles.

Great minds , just ordered Affalterbach chrome spinners on 22 inch HRE split rim 507 lookalikes for mine :D

18s with a polished rim sound great :thumb: looks like you should be sorted for 2020 keep me posted and I’m sure with a bit of help from Ritchy we can organise a meeting at Shildon early next year when everyone is about ;)

And fools seldom differ they say! :D

Fingers crossed mate, thats the master plan, to get it out and about. Might have to give Ritchy a run for his money in that 'taxi' of his!

Funnily enough I only had to paint my 189 ones all my other 202s (mostly 744) I just bought 210 handles and bolted straight on best mod ever for less than 50 squids a set. Just can't understand why they were not included on the c43 as they were available in the parts bin.

Last time out Ritchy had two passengers but I think he’s allowed to carry 4 :D

Sounds like a plan to kick off 2020 with an unveiling of your car, will have to coordinate diaries and make it happen :thumb:
