Afternoon,

Could anybody tell me if there are any quality alternatives to diagnostics for Mercs? Obviously STAR can be purchased at a high cost, and there are plenty of clones about, but I am wondering if there are any high quality alternatives available.

The example of an alternative that I am thinking of is the Mercedes equivalent of VCDS for VWs, which is affordable and supported.

I have an Autel EU702 which is great for OBDII and some basic DAS features like poking modules and resetting airbags, but just seeing if i am missing something?

Don't mind if it is appliance or software based. As a competent amateur mechanic I'd rather have my own thing if possible rather than asking a dealer for the odd coding task or diagnostics readout.

Thanks!

I have Autel Maxidiag 619 & Launch Creader VIII

In my view both work on Mercedes... but Creader has little advantage over Autel in checking and resetting oil related issues

I would recommend Creader VIII

if you want to go down the handheld route, chat to the guys at Gendan, friendly bunch who recommended the Autel reader to me.

Anyone got any experience of Carsoft?

I have a second hand Star. Works perfectly. The battery in the laptop is kaput.

I would take £350 for it.
