Question regarding Bservice

My car is booked for a B service on saturday - been quoted in the region of 390 quid..

additional stuff to be done according to dealer - brake fluid change, spark plugs change and air and fuel filter, which takes the price up to 690.

Is it worthwhile to split the job into 2, as in service with MB and rest with indie or is the gain negligible?

I only ask because the last A service I did at an indie racked up a 800 quid bill - cos brake pads and discs were changed..

Car in question is a w203 c200k estate

Look forward to your thoughts.

Tony

suppose it really depends on the labour rate and how long they are going to take to do the work needed. Cause the parts are gonna cost the same wherever.

Thanks Fuzzer, one question though.. I got the sparks and air filter changed at my last B service - 20k miles ago, do they need changing again? also, I have read on here that many people take their own oil in - is that a wise move?

No they don't They should be 50-60K or 5 years for the plugs.

look in your hand book and all will be revealed

Just had my B service and they did not change the spark plugs this time around as it was done 8k miles ago when they did the last A service.
If the dealer does change the plugs they will charge about £60 + cost of plugs + VAT so about £100.

As for the oil it may be worth it. They charged me 12 quid a litre + VAT so again thats about £100.
