R171 Phone kit

Hi all. My wife has a R171 SLK with the basic audio system,single cd and no phone.(Audio 20?)
How easy is it to upgrade to the phone enabled audio,(I am not au fait with the MB models but believe it to be Comand?)
Or am I stuck with getting a Parrot?
Really appreciate any advice!

Use a Fiscon or a mCar (depending whether you want iPod connection or not), it will integrate properly and you will get the phonebook on the Audio-20 etc. You also get bluetooth audio streaming (as you have no CD changer)

npuk, that is a very good point. You would need

>=MY2009 SLK Audio-20 (there are ones with and without inbuilt CD changer)
Adapter kit for SLK for cars without phone (i.e you need the microphone), and then it is plug and play.

If you talk to Alfie (see Welcome to www.comand.co.uk) I know he has one which we part-exchanged when doing an upgrade to COMAND. I can't recall if it has CDC or not.

FYI, With the Audio-20, if you have the CD changer then it has the fibre optic port - which means that the Media Interface (fully integrated iPod kit, where tracks are shown on the Audio-20) can be added, and so can fully integrated DAB at a later date. It should be noted that DAB retrofit in a SLK is expensive as you have to change the aerials and quite a bit of antenna wiring since the rear wing antenna is used for DAB reception. The MB DAB tuner is far from cheap too.

Hello all I would please like you to help me kindly in solving a problem in the audio 20 unit, i have made everything work but there is a problem with my microphone that I would really appreciate if you can help me. The problem is that i have tried about 4 different make microphones but still i have to put the mic really close to my mouth inorder for the other person to hear me, i would really appreciate your help if you can also provide me with the mic pinout because i had figured them by myself.

The microphones used on Mercs are different to many (for instance, if you use a Nokia carkit mic, it is very quiet)

Talk to Comand Online Ltd - they will sort you a mic with the correct connections that will work!!

Thank you Richard for the quick reply and valuable info, but i have tried an original mercedes mic but it also does the same problem, do you think that its because im using one mic and that i have to use 2? one for the left side and one for the right side and that it is malfunctioning because its not getting the correct data from one mic?

Hello Richard once again I am really gratefull for your help, but I have tried 3 mb mics even connected min left and mic right and the ground cable that come from the white shell in the connector but still the same problem occured.I had tried changing some pins hoping for a change but also nothing happened are these the pins? mic left is pin 1, mic right is pin 2 and the ground is pin 9 but what is the mic shield pin? anything wrong?
