Hello everyone,

Radio of my Car stopped working...I thought it might be fuse. I checked Fuse in boot which are on left hand side. I found one which had blown...it was red in colour and 7.5 was written on top...I replaced it today....but radio is still not working..... could anyone please help....

I guess a W203, or would Classic mean a late W202?

On a W203 there can be at least three 7.5 amp fuse at the rear fuse box but none for the radio, can you read the fuse number for the one that was blown? The radio fuse should be at the engine compartment fuse box (also possibly at the rear of the radio another fuse).

Fuse which was Blown was number 3......I found diagram of fuses in dashboard corner accroding to that sheet number 64 fuse is of Radio...I have checked that fuse and its ok..what could be wrong then....Please advise

There is a 10amp fuse in the back of ther radio itself.

I think I know what your next question will be!

How to get to this fuse......Do I have to take the Radio out

Sorry Mr Diesel Benz vbmenu_register("postmenu_678952", true);

I gave you the wrong info..I have checked again and today in daylight...Fuse which got Blown is number 8 ( 7.5 amp ) in my Boot. When I replaced it with new one it blew straight away.... I have checked sheet which shows fuses its linking this number 8 fuse to Anti-Theft Alarm. Its also shows Fuse number 9 , 4 ,1 is also related to Anti - Theft system. I have checked all these and they are fine..... Any idea why this has blown straight away....

For Radio

I am only left with fuse behind actual Radio to check ........Which I am assuming I will have to pull radio out .Any suggestions to do this task in simle way please advise

Fuse #8 at the trunk should also feed the antenna amplifier.

If it is a W203, I believe you should find and existing thread showing how to remove the head unit.

Well if fuse number 8 is for antenna amplifier whats the reason for its blowing straight away as soon as I installed new one...Will I have to replace a relay as well....IF yes do you know where I can find the relay for Radio.....

Note that the antenna amplifier should be an addition to the list you already gave for fuse #8. If the antenna amp was not listed on your fuse chart, perhaps your car does not have one (but don't all W203 cars have one).

I don't think there is any relay for the radio. If there is a short circuit, it could be almost anywhere. One would have to try to separate the related wires from everything else, which may not be simple.

If its not simple then I would not like to do it myself. I will send car to garage.I usually do'nt listen to radio its always CD which is played in my car.
Couple of months back my Key Fob Stopped working I thought its batterry which I replaced straight away but still key fob does not work. I tried Synchrnising still deos not work.
As I don't listen to radio and when I found out that its not working ..I started thinking that may be my key Fob does not work because my radio is not getting signal and my Logic says Key Fob also works on some sort of radio signal. Do you think my Logic is correct.

I would have preferred to have the car model details (203.xyz?) but at least some W203 models do have a rear window antenna/amplifier for central locking. The issues could be related.

Shouldn't you then remove the radio and check you have power at the rear of the radio, and check the fuse there, or did you already do it (if you did, checking the engine bay fuse does not add value).

I am now fully stuck...I pulled Radio out with the tool but it looks like....Radio has got some sort of circular clamp which has got hole in middle... when I try to pull it out with tool...Woden texture facia also try's to come out.....to pull radio out do i first need to take facia as well.. if yes how is it secured ....is it secured by bolts...Its night mare at the moment...Please direct me in right direction ...............Please help
