The odd drop of 95 Octane won't do it any harm, surely?
I dunno. I was led to believe the M157 is not to be run on less than 97 and you can cause damage if you do. But maybe that's just heresay.

It's certainly not designed to be run on 95, and will not produce its full power on that, but I'd bet it wouldn't be damaged if you had no choice but to fill it up with cooking 95 octane petrol once.

The sheep were out in force today - came through the roundabout at the bottom end of the A2070 at Brenzett, roundabout was partly blocked by idiots wanting to get into the Shell station there, continued through new Romney where again idiots waiting to get into the petrol station were blocking the road back to the traffic lights and causing chaos. Luckily I tanked up the SLK a week ago (and haven't used it since) and the S204 on Thursday just outside Tenterden, so only possiblt worry for a while is do we have enough petrol for the lawn mower - which I think we do - and will a good friend from North Norfolk still be brought here for the weekend by her daughter next Thursday!

It seems most of the selfish drivers have topped up around my area. Thursday, Friday and yesterday the queues were at every filling station and many were closed by yesterday with no fuel.

Had to find some super unleaded today and my local Tesco had plenty with no queuing at all. Stuck £40 worth in which will keep me going for a couple of weeks with the little driving I do lately. Tesco and Sainsburys also the only garages locally that haven't put the price up. I refuse to visit either of the 2 local Esso station because of profiteering since the so called shortage.

I would in an emergency, but as I have other cars I'll use those until the mentalness is over!

Had to go to North Devon on Saturday morning and was due to come back tonight, but we came home this morning in the hope that it might mean that we could get some fuel when we got home.

Most fuel stations were closed in North Devon yesterday but I managed to find just one open, and so filled it up with super unleaded. It was just enough to get us home - taking it easy meant I managed 16 mpg.

Even though we got home late afternoon today, I’ve been unable to find a filling station with fuel. I stopped counting at 8 filling stations. The last one I tried had diesel but no unleaded of any type.

So the car is now parked until normal service has been restored - we don’t have enough in the tank to go on another magical mystery tour. We’ll have to use other cars for a few days.

First time I didn't put Shell V-power diesel in my E350 since I've owned it and behold, the universe did not implode

In the UK there are round about 1,000,000 people who hold hgv licences are the government may be sending them a begging letter to start driving hgv again.

I have up all my hgv licences at 70 so won't be getting a letter any time soon !

About a mile away from here.
I spoke to the guy during the 1st lockdown - he had a nice Triumph Stag - not any more.
Allegedly siphoning fuel from one car to another - may be due to the fuel situation, may be due to the change to E10
Started in his garage, possibly spread to his oil tank, then to his & his neighbours bungalows

It's the ADR/HAZCHEM qualifications that they are short on, not drivers as such.

That's why it's a fuel issue and not simply a supply issue.

Its just a course....or it was when I looked into it way back!
There are about 7 categories of ADR.
Don't think it's cheap.

Also experience of carrying fluid is important, most companies won't have new/inexperienced drivers with new ADR certs carrying fuel straight away....its basically a big bomb.
Another catch 22

There's also cpc and digital tachos that will need to be obtained.
4 weeks and you could be qualified.
1 week of theory and tacho training.
1 weeks crash course of driving.
1 week of cpc
1 week adr
Oh and a medical.

£2500/£3000 and you're away, £68 p/h and you'll be making a profit in no time 😁

Hi , good but do the people in power understand this ?
I would assume so.

And it's class 1/hgv c+e tanker drivers where the main shortage is.

Out of the 1,000,000 hgv licences held in the UK I would guess over half are not class 1.

A fair chunk of cash but a decent hourly rate after though.
It cost a shed load more to get a gas ticket and you won’t get £68 an hour either.

So let me get just this straight then:

1. There is no UK shortage of hgv drivers; your hero Johnson issuing 5000 visas to bring in hgv drivers from foreign countries is just a bit of fun.

2. There is no shortage of fuel in the UK, it’s just when you go to a petrol station they don’t have any because there aren’t enough tanker drivers to get it to them; but there is no shortage of hgv drivers or petrol/diesel, it’s just people who need fuel to work are trying to buy it too much.

3. There are no shortage of food deliveries, and no gaps on the shelves, because you say there aren’t. And anyway your mates brother’s sister who knows someone who works with someone else who thinks they know someone else who works on the counter says there definitely aren’t.

4. And anyway, even if there were shortages, it’s only ‘cos those who oppose Brexit are hoarding fuel in their front room, and are buying much too much food and filling their houses with it.

5. Brexit is brilliant ‘cos we’ve taken back control, or at least we will have after Christmas when we kick all those pesky foreign hgv drivers we are begging to come here back out again. Plus the 5000 food workers we’ve also begged to come back.

Phew, glad we’ve got that straight, do keep drinking the Kool Aid…. 🤪
