Ready steady Queue

And that, ladies and gents, is how you get to be the forum’s most prolific poster 😀

Nice try, but posts in the Off Topic section don't add to the post count, only those in the technical forums. You could argue that my advice posted in the technical forums is rubbish, though.

Ignore me, none of your posts are rubbish, a little pedantic maybe…

Hi , a friend of mine found a petrol station that did not have any queues.

It was his local station and if the owner did not recognize you no fuel.

He reasoning was simple , no fighting was going to happen on his watch.

The queues appear to be over in my part of the country.
Sainsburys have raised the price of all fuels by 3p a litre this week. Esso remain the highest priced.
Fortunately I use Momentum and it still remains the cheapest brand.

V-Power Diesel seems to be stuck at 153.9p/L at the cheapest, from what I can see... I wonder if we'll ever see it go down again!

It was 150.9, only 7p a litre more than cooking diesel, at the Shell station in Northwich where I filled up yesterday morning. Just as soon as I manage to fill the CLS 63 with V-Power, for me 'Zer crisis vill be over...'

For the first time in a month I decided to look for fuel - the S204 was between 1/4 and 1/2 tank and I was out anyway! Our normal filling station, Tesco Park Farm Ashford, was finally open, had petrol but no diesel. next one I was close to was BP Beaver Road (near Ashford International Station - it also had petrol (including E5 as well as E10), no diesel but Premium Diesel - at £1.59.9/L! (normal diesel is about £1.40/l if available). Decided I'd have some, but did not do my normal full tank-up, will be interesting to see if the S204 behaves differently on the expensive stuff (complete with 1/2 bottle of Redex injector cleaner!!).

BB said that the local petrol station near his friend's house only sells fuel to customers that the owner recognises as regulars. Hence, no queues and plenty of fuel - for regular customers.

What's the issue with this?

My dads local garage to his office (Sarratt) was doing this during the fuel shortage in 2000 or whenever it was.

When the pubs reopened in April after lockdown a boozer near to where I live would only let in regulars.

Can’t see any problems tbh.

No queue's around here mostly over now, around the Canbridge area also

No queues at neither of my local stations. Nice of them to put the price of unleaded up 5p a litre 🤡

Sounds like one of those urban myths, always seems to be "a friend".
In fact turning people away because their face does not fit seems more likely to cause trouble for me.

Imagine the headline newspaper stories if someone with a face that did not fit was turned away.

No issues at all here in Preston.

Fair point. It wasn't clear to me from your original post what was it that you found objectionable.

Before we complain too much about petrol stations profiting from the media's deliberately created artificial petrol & diesel panic, we should recognise that the underlying price of oil has doubled this year. So that there Covid19 recovery, and the related UK taxes, are a key driver, once the forecourts go quiet again.

My local Shell has had no queues for the last couple of days. But that's because the tanks are empty yet again.....

My wife's Fiat 500 has at least two week's worth left and my E Class is 3/4 full.

So should be able to make it through the next month or so.

Yep. Mrs Spiky reported yesterday that our nearest (BP) had no fuel 😖

I filled up last night in Kettering on my way home. It's an ESSO garage with about 12 pumps but only 4 were available, presumably the other tanks feeding those are empty.

Back home in Leicestershire, the garages are reasonably well stocked, no queues but some with a few pumps not in use.
