Started getting a squeaking sort of sound from the back end, sounds a bit like cheap interior rubbing :)

Started to show up when setting off, forward or reverse. Now get it very slightly over bumps in the road. I can replicated it a bit by putting it in park and rocking the car back and forth.

anyone got suggestions upon what it could be ??

TIA

One of the seven thousand rubber bushes in the rear suspension?

had this few days ago, did jack up the car and spray WD40 on all seven thousand rubber bushes so far so good, but i guess it will return some day...

Highly likely to be the lower hub bush - do a forum search for squeak with my username and you should find a thread where me and hd400(?) had the problem at the same time.

Special tool needed to clear the trailing link when doing it on car - about £75 at an indie.

Quick test - if you can create the squeak by bouncing the rear end, remove the plastic cover on the lower suspension arm and jack up there or lower onto a breeze block under the arm. Now bounce the car. This changes the loading on this bush, but not the others - if the squeak goes away you and be pretty certain that's it.

Thanks for that.
my squeak is more back and forth, than up/down, but will give it a check over tomorrow.

Had a good look today and think it is being caused by the top front strut. the inner bush seems to have seperated as able to move the strut with a pry bar and the inner rubber stays still.

Creaking/squeaking still there !!!

Well I had the bottom outer bushes replaced - totally shot . But this has not cured the creaking sound from the rear.

It is more evendent when pulling away, as if the torque to the wheels is shifting something. I can not get the noise by rocking the back end.

It totally disappeared on friday with the rain, so seems that the water is lubricating a bush (or two) and then comes back when drys out.

Anyone got any suggestions where to look next.

Finally cured the problem:

After some obscure word searching on google, found a postg about the bottom washers, on the front rear subframe mounts, being installed upside down. The washers are coated with rubber on one side and that side needs to be facing the subframe.

Checked mine and found that they were installed upside down :wallbash: When they were removed you could easily see shiny metal on the subframe and the edge of the washer.
Installed correctly and no more noise :bannana:
