Red battery warning light visit workshop 2003merc e220cdi

My battery warning light stating visit work shop has just come on. My car, a 2003 e220cdi had been off the road for 3months and the battery had gone flat,so i put it on charge overnight and by morning car was charged,however when at first i initially drove it it was fine but then firstly,the engine mangement light came on and then a warning stating something like batterry convienience functions not available and then finally the red batterry warning light stating visit work shop came on to.So now i have two malfunctions,but i initially also experienced a lack of pick up and power,thought this seems to have gone,but i seem to be fluctuating between these two malfunctions,sometimes the red warning malfunction goes away,sometimes it comes back,howeverthe battery convienience functions warning stays all the time.Could it be as simple as that my battery has gone or is it something else?

It's best to start with a battery check then a plug into a star.

Leaving a battery in a fully discharged state for a period of time is lethal to any battery, they dont usually recover (certainly if the battery was on its last legs anyway)

Your problems may be related to the poor condition of the battery, as black says, have it checked first before doing anything else..

Just had it checked,told i need a new alternator.

Check that you cannot just replace the regulator pack in your alternator.

Hi ,I had the same problem with my SL350 saying visit workshop so I did my guy checked both batteries and suggested a trickle charger as I do not use the car much in the winter,I bought a CTEK MXS 5.0 and it did the trick battery fully charged and desulphated and now on trickle charge until I need to use my car so for £51 from Amazon well worth it.No malfunctions anymore.

Battery warning light visit workshop

I have replaced both batteries and it has new alternator.
Any ideas what to do next the light is on most of the time but the battery is charging.
In the last few days the light has gone out 3 times but keeps coming back on and staying on .
Any help would be apprecicated .

Convenience features are not shut off?

Faulty battery conrtrol module, faulty isolation relay, corroded groundings (check pre-fuse boxes Diesel Leak off ARGGGGGGGGGGG - Mercedes-Benz Owners' Forums). Is the alternator new/refurbished, (voltage regulator) exactly the same as original?
